Last week, we had an incredible time facilitating a PD with Westerville Schools (OH) in partnership with the Latino & Somali communities! Five tour guides, 15 site visits in the community, 70 committed educators, and a whole lot of passion for supporting students and families! 🙌

From what I’m reading, the EO’s don’t supersede law and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that outlined national origin discrimination (and language access) still stands. And there’s even additional policy in education to keep it going for now…
This is a huge blow to #languageaccess for sure! For K-12 schools however, I believe the education-specific policy still stands? For ex, the 1970 memo and the wording in Titles 1 & 3. No?

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt rejected the idea of having schools collect children’s immigration status.
“Collecting 6-, 7-, 8-year-old kids’ addresses and immigration status in the state of Oklahoma, that’s not a public safety issue,” Stitt said.
