but as soon as a tried to do something a little bit more “advanced” for me (i think i tried to package an AppImage for an app that wasn’t on nixpkgs? to install it with home-manager?) i was like…. i have no idea how this works dhdjdjf

i picked up nixOS as my first attempt at using linux, both bc i was just curious, and bc the rollbacks made me less nervous about breaking everything. i do prefer writing a config file instead of doing random commands whose effects i don’t fully understand and that i’ll forget 5 minutes later

for people not familiar with Os Saltimbancos, it’s the Brazilian version of the Italian musical I Musicanti; it’s based in the tale of the Bremen musicians, turned into a communist allegory. Chico Buarque sneaked it into Brazil during the very anti-communist military dictatorship. it’s amazing.

i was like – is it botões or borbotões? why do i think it’s borbotões? is that even a word, what does it mean?

i’ve finally identified the source of my confusion. the first time i ever heard this expression was in the children’s musical Os Saltimbancos, which takes poetic license to say “borbotões”

there’s a portuguese expression, “pensando com meus botões”, literally “thinking with my buttons”, for when you’re introspecting / pondering things on your own

i never used it, bc every time i thought of using it, my brain wanted to say “borbotões” instead of “botões”, and made me very confused

my understanding is that a good portion of their “support tickets” currently are people with doubts about details of the law itself rather than technical difficulties using the system

maybe the way to go really is to have just the dedicated glossary page and then just make sure to call attention to it on the home page so people don’t miss out on the fact that it exists… or would be good to just straight up make a whole (optional) “onboarding” explaining the law in plain language
