NEW: 11 Dems in the WA House and Senate voted against the Millionaires Tax. Some can use the purpleness of their district as an excuse, but in all 11 cases, their constituents support taxing the rich more than they do their representatives as candidates www.theburnerseattle.com/post/taxing-...
Good op-ed here. There's no reason to take this "deal" with big corporations anyway. They are trying to get a huge tax cut at the expense of our public schools, while quietly hoping (and maybe even encouraging) right-wing activists to put it on the ballot and kill the millionaire's tax anyway.
OP ED: Lawmakers want progressives to clap for their corporate-friendly income tax, but with the House striking the bill's $550 million corporate handout, Tech4Taxes activist Fatema Boxwala urges you to tell your reps to pick the people over big biz www.theburnerseattle.com/post/the-mil...

Yes. That's a moratorium on detention centers and doesn't apply to private companies
NEW: Advocates want to pack the room at a City Council meeting in a tiny Lake Washington town and they aren't going to talk about pot holes. The Mayor of Hunts Point is also the president of the company that may soon lease office space to ICE in Tukwila www.theburnerseattle.com/post/ice-s-p...
Slide showing that the repeal of SB 5814 would result in a $157 million loss biennially across all funds including Metro transit
The sales tax cut that was included in the Millionaire's Tax right before it passed off the Senate floor would result in a $157 million hit to King County in its first two years, hitting Metro and other departments including housing and mental health programs.
