Slide from the Valve GDC talk saying hardware is still coming in 2026.
At the Valve GDC talk: "If you have a line on a bunch of RAM, we are in the market and would like to buy it."
Anyway, hardware is still listed as coming in 2026. Now it's GDC official (a.k.a. pretty much meaningless still but maybe).

Itβs not the frustration, itβs the way you talk about it. Thats a fair frustration. What isnβt fair is responding to talk about a different problem with βjust donβt go see big artistsβ. The way you asked who I go to reads as if youβre being mocking. As if itβs my fault the artists I like are popular

Okay but the point is seeing local artists has nothing to do with the problem here nor is it a solution. Itβs just being pretentious about who you listen to. Those local artists getting more popular and getting to play bigger shows means theyβll also get too expensive.

I get that, but there are many factors why someone may not be interested in local artists. Itβs good to expand your taste, but not everyone wants to and they shouldnβt have to. Weird to act like they should be happy not going to see the shows from artists they like in favor of one they dont know

For some, yes. Iβve been to smaller concerts and local shows personally. But I think itβs stupid to shame others for liking music by popular artists and then shame them again for wanting to go see them live.
Expanding taste is cool but itβs not a solution to ppl locked out of shows they care about

Sucky argument when my favorite artists that I want to see live are those big artists. I can support local music all I want but that doesnβt allow me to go to a live show from my favorite artists with my favorite songs. Itβs two very different experiences.

Ai sucks and blah blah blah but you should at least recognize that it is a good thing that users of OpenAI are mad they gave the gov unrestricted model access and decided to move to anthropic who refused to do so. It is also a good thing that anthropic is standing on their morals.

A digital drawing of author Maia Kobabe, a white nonbinary person with short brown hair wearing a patterned blue shirt, who scowls while holding up a copy of eir book GENDER QUEER: A MEMOIR. Maia is saying: H.R. 7661 is a national book banning bill which seeks to remove any book that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. This would ban my books, and any other book with trans themes, from public schools. PLEASE call your House Reps and say: NO ON H.R. 7661!

A raccoon fursuit wearing leather harness and chain leash, his arm around a smiling convention attendee at Confurence 1993 in the artist alley. There are people behind the pair but it's too dark to make out details.
A Lola Bunny fursuit wearing black lace panty-hose and holding a crop. She is posing. A watermark for Upright Fox is in the top corner.
A seductive mustelid fursuiter holds a leather crop, his white and blue fur under leather vest, belt and low-riding jock strap pose in front of an empty convention hallway table.
A gender-bent bear fursuit with eye liner wears latex from the waist down, and a corset. A smiling con goer looks on in his white teeshirt with a busty anthro animal on it. There is a busy crowd behind them.
Furry has been kinky since the beginning as illustrated by these photos from Confurence 1993 (curated by www.instagram.com/d0gfag/) There has always been a demand for adult spaces in furry. The fandom was founded on the idea that adults can use anthro animals and cartoons to express adult interests.

I agree, i wish they wouldnβt as well. But they do have to comply in certain areas, so even if they pull back from global rollout they wont be removing age verification features entirely. There are a couple of states in the US where laws are active, so they need the infrastructure anyway.

But this is a fight that needs to happen off discord anyway. Discord is not going to be the champion of not doing age verification, like you said they arenβt our friend. So itβs gotta be fought in court and through our government reps that have the power to stop or revert these stupid legislations

It is required by law in the UK, Australia, soon in brazil, and in a couple of US States with more states having bills up for vote.
Companies are not my friend, never said they were. You gotta look at the whole of the situation. I respect discord trying to push for local only / non-IDing methods

They are changing things, more verification options, requiring on device for facial age estimation, vendor documentation, releasing the details of the automatic verification system, spoiler channels. It's a start. I wish they would drop it but they seem convinced they have to because of regulations.

Getting Global Age Assurance Right: What We Got Wrong and What's Changing
Discord's CTO addresses community concerns about age assurance: no mass ID collection, new vendor transparency commitments, and a delayed global launch until second half of 2026.
Discord put out a press release completely distancing themselves from Persona, committing to privacy and transparency, and delaying their global rollout until they can do it better. It's not everything, but it's certainly a start.

While I'm still not happy about it, I understand the need to get systems in place as legislation gets implemented in places like the UK. I guess we'll have to see how this rollout goes, and push our stupid ass gov officials to stop implementing stupid ass verification laws.

Very interesting. TLDR: "Should've been more transparent. We will give more details and choice over vendors, more verification options like credit card, only use vendors that do age estimation locally. We'll push global rollout till later this year. We'll publish details of auto estimation soon."
