Oh wow! The dialogue is definitely sparse anyway and there’s an essential inscrutability to the story - especially the ending but I’m not sure how I would have gone with it without dialogue, and how the music would have carried it otherwise. Wow, that’s really got me thinking…
I wish I had! SBS did have it a while back but it’s about time it returned. I’ll be recommending this one from Hamaguchi soon - one of the most profound films I’ve ever seen | Evil Does Not Exist www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/mov...

I agree. I just watched it. Made me really question why Thomas Keneally left her out. He always maintained his book was semi fictionalised but there’s no excuse for erasing her like that

Woah, who knew the story of Oskar Schindler’s overlooked wife? Oskar got all the glory in the blockbuster book and film www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/tv-...
How odd. Maybe SBS have got it and just haven’t added yet 🤔 I’ll keep an eye out
Yeah, Geisha is a weird culture and I think that Hollywood trying to make it work for Western audiences is pretty distasteful. I didn’t watch, but some people like it. I prefer Park Chan Wook’s wild & very naughty take on it www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/mov...
This is on my watch list. So many good films, so little time *sigh*
Maybe it was in a documentary or something?
I think SBS had it some years back. Maybe it’ll come around again 🤷🏻♀️
😳‼️
A quite charming film (and there's a sequel) streaming on SBS On Demand (Australia only)
'Midnight Diner' Slightly reminiscent of 'Cheers' via the regular cast including grizzled old guy, Yakuza member etc. Look closely and you may learn how to cook Tamagoyaki
