We could have just helped Ukraine enough in the beginning…

RyanAir is cheap for one reason. It’s competing with rail travel.

If you were to remove rail travel, flying in Europe would become significantly more expensive.

It’s just capitalism.

Plus it gets worse. Many countries are asking for Ukraine to give away or sell their needed defense as Russia continues their human safari, and many of the countries asking Ukraine to give away needed equipment are state sponsors of terrorism.

Everything about this is awful.

So we invaded a foreign country, albeit with a crappy human rights record, that supports Russia and Hezbollah, and all that has happened is the dictator's son has taken power and oil prices have increased, leading to Russia getting more revenue?

Remember when Rubio was seen as the “respectable, moderate Republican we can work with”?

Yeah… that was always bullshit.

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.

I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

1/ Here's what I can share:

Going through some records for some family members... and I find it amazing that the government wasted taxpayer money on military headstones for traitors who served in the Confederate Army.

Immigration detention on track for deadliest fiscal year since 2004 Twenty-three people have died since October in ICE custody, as advocates warn about overcrowding and health care access.

Look at the title closely. Deadliest year since 2004...

Remember how many people died in immigration prisons last year? A truly abhorrent and unacceptable number? IT WAS WORSE UNDER BUSH. #AbolishICE

The Bay Area Considers the Unthinkable: Life Without BART

When transit usage drops to more reasonable levels, politicians debate cuts.

When crime rates drop, they never consider reducing police funding or cutting staff, even though we know more police do not lower crime.

Ukraine already gave up control of three regions in exchange for peace. We all know how well that turned out.

All of Ukraine needs to be controlled by Ukraine, and they need NATO membership.

Ukrainian forces advanced further into the Zaporizhzhia region. The new positions are directly threatening the Russian occupation in Uspenivka.

The Russian presence in the Dnipropetrovsk region has been almost completely removed.

If Hillary Clinton had won in 2016 and the Iran deal had been maintained. If so many obviously terrible decisions not been made over the last 35 years so much death, destruction, and war would have been avoided. It’s all so stupid and pointless.

We need fundamental changes.

10.03.2026 15:30 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

The tragedy of all of this… is how avoidable it was. If Clinton had not been Yeltsin’s good boy with the Budapest Memorandum. If Merkel and Sarkozy had not been Putin’s best allies of all time and granted Ukraine and Georgia NATO membership in 2008. If Biden had sent more weapons to Ukraine.

But somehow we have threaded the needle so precisely under both Democratic and Republican administrations to the path of nuclear proliferation. I expect countries are already pursuing nuclear weapons in secret today, I would be flabbergasted if this is not already happening.

10.03.2026 15:30 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

This was not inevitable. If the Iran deal had lasted, and Trump had not made his entire purpose in life to undo all of Obama’s achievements, this could have been avoided.

If Ukraine had been granted NATO membership, or if we had sent Ukraine everything it needed, it would have been avoided.

10.03.2026 15:30 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

As a result of the invasions of Iran and Ukraine, and the response of outsiders, there is only one possible response.

Many countries are going to pursue the construction of nuclear weapons in secret. Because announcing it brings invasion, and not having nuclear weapons brings invasion.

The bottom line is Trump sacrificed 8 American lives (& counting) and more than 1,000 Iranian lives (& counting) for nothing. He hurt the US & global economies, destabilized the Middle East, & will pull out with the same Iranian regime in power. There's no silver lining.

A senseless, criminal waste

But ideologically, the system established by Bismarck in the 1800s in Germany along with similar evolutions in other European countries has shown itself to be the dominant strategy for generating economic wealth. It was the movement away from it during Merkel’s time when the US pulled ahead.

Rhine Capitalism has been rebranded as Social Democracy for various reasons. The right wing wants to portray it as the boogieman and close to communism, but it isn’t. Social democrat and democratic socialist parties are now Rhine Capitalist parties, but they haven’t changed their name.

In the 2010s we had Obama while the EU had Merkel and we outperformed Europe.

Now we have Trump and Europe has Macron and the EU outperforms the US.

The conservative economic experiment has failed. Liberal Rhine Capitalism has won.

It’s funny… nexus cards were only $60 before real ID became mandatory to fly domestically. But they doubled the cost right when a standard drivers license became insufficient to fly.

Investing in transit is an easy win.

Common sense still applies of course, spend that money efficiently, but even the worst transit investment beats the best highway expansion.
