A little sad I wasn’t able to get my shit together for any new cosplays for Katsu. Gonna keep it chill and bring Meryl and Harley. Might bring Olli (gotta see how the beard is doing), or maybe Chef if people are planning any fun Hades things

Sometimes i do feel like my ideal career is doing odd jobs for people in return for some food and perhaps a place to stay. I will do the things you don’t want to do or keep putting off. (Just don’t ask me to do things i’m supposed to do for myself)

Serendipitously November was already planned for Mira Nair. Watched Mississippi Masala, definitely a strong start

Chungking Express - while I understand this happens in the same space as Fallen Angel the vibes for these stories definitely make sense as separate films. Definitely potential to be a background just vibes film for me

November - Wong Kar-Wai. Started with Fallen Angel (should have done Chungking Express, but the internet lied about it being available). I enjoy a little character exploration and the juxtaposition of the two main characters demeanors.

This weekend i lost my phone on the subway a stop before the end of the line and was able to get it back within 30 minutes (thank you helpful mta employees). During all of that I was so calm.
And yet, any time I pick up the phone to make a phone call my fight or flight goes nuts

Inland Empire - enjoyed a lot of the camera choices, longer than it needed to be

This month is David Lynch. Started with Blue Velvet - most of my Lynch experience is Twin Peaks and this feels very in-line with that. Excited to get to some of his stranger things

Lost in Translation - there is a subtle happening in the nothing is actually happening and I can get why people like it, but it’s not what i’m looking for in a movie

August is Sofia Coppola. Started with Marie Antoinette which has been on the list forever. Visually really enjoyed it. Enjoyed Kirsten Dunst’s performance, but the whole thing is way too nice to the french royalty.

Have actually started stuff for dragon con. Gonna make a bunny suit and a mostly thrifted comfy cosplay. And maybe a Nazgul. We’ll see if I can get my shit together enough for big cloak and foam armor bits

Full Metal Jacket - a movie I’ve seen bits of before. Definitely seeing some strong themes emerging from Kubrick’s work

July is Kubrick - started with Eyes Wide Shut. This movie is not meant for me. Like yeah, of course the sex party people staged everything, you’re an obviously vanilla guy in over his head just because his wife had a sexual desire beyond him

Gender thoughts™️: as a kid i was always happy (often volunteered) to play the “boy” role. Girl friends were always reluctant to and into being “girly”.

As kids we get gender cues from the world around us and we can fully feel unaligned to those cues even if we don’t know what gender dysphoria is.

Love your friends deeply. Nothing hits as hard as a good night of chatter and spending time together and lingering a little longer to make sure you say goodbye and let people know you love them 💜
