What civil rights folks always getβand others in our coalitions often missβis that spirituality is itself a profound political instrument. Nobody watches the Olympics for the stats. We watch for the emotional alchemy, for how we are made to feel. If they can endure, maybe we can too! Bless Booker.
President Donald Trump on Sunday declined to rule out seeking a third presidential term β an unconstitutional act explicitly barred under the 22nd Amendment β saying that βthere are methods which you could do it.β
No news organization should ever use the words "third term" without the word "unconstitutional" preceding it
Republicans passed and defended a law making it illegal to provide water to people waiting in line to vote.
Blumenthal: "The break down in security is so jaw-dropping, but equally so the reaction that, 'well, nothing to be worried about here.' It's a little bit like saying the drunk driver was never at risk because he made it home okay, so nothing to see here."
If you don't want to see this horrible garbage happen in every future high-stakes election, make sure it demonstrably fails in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race by helping elect Susan Crawford
very helpful to democrats that one of the most unpopular people in american politics is front in center in the administration, allowing them to make the very easy case that you should vote for democrats to check elon musk.
I'm not saying anything novel here but it really is just truly despicable to watch them use THEIR OWN COLOSSAL SCREW UP to slander the reporter THEY INCLUDED ON THEIR CLASSIFIED GROUP CHAT
people really want the current divisions in the D party to be left/center.
they aren't really though. the big division right now is currently fight/don't fight.
is that bad? Seems bad
The more coverage a story gets, the more important readers think it is.
So it matters when the NYT inflates flimsy Dem βscandalsβ while downplaying real, criminal ones from Trump and Republicans. Itβs not just bad judgment β it shapes public perception.
I mean very obviously Hegseth should resign, and if it were a Democratic administration this would be quickly be a consensus position.
i am a professional politics knower and without passing judgment on todayβs little argument i will say that i agree with this. no one is entitled to a seat and if someone feels they could better represent the area they should go for it.
The geniuses at DOGE are bringing us insights like "I'm not really sure why the tax agency for a country of 330 million people has a larger staff than a midsize bank"
To review what we from @washingtonpost.com are reporting out of the IRS today:
- Projected tax revenue this year is down 10% ($500 billion) as Trump's downsizing is emboldening tax cheats
- IRS is nearing an agreement with ICE to assist on mass deportations
βOne young man sobbed when a guard pushed him to the floor. He said, βIβm not a gang member. Iβm gay. Iβm a barber.β I believed him. *** He βbegan to whimper,β as his head was roughly shaved, βfolding his hands in prayer as his hair fell.β He βasked for his mother & cried as he was slapped again.β
For most Americans, not getting their Social Security check would mean not being able to afford rent, groceries, their medicationβor all three!
But a billionaire cabinet secretary is saying if you complain about not getting the benefits you've EARNED, you're a fraudster.
When the answer to "are you cheating on me?" is "who told you that?" and not "no"
AOC: What they like to call as radical, I believe is common sense.
I believe that when a person gets sick, they shouldnβt go bankrupt in the wealthiest country in the history of the world. Common sense
I believe that a minimum wage should cover the minimum cost to live. Common sense...
AOC: Fox News and the right-wing would have you believe that these American values are something out of The Communist Manifesto. But let me tell you Fox News, I donβt believe in healthcare, labor, and human rights because Iβm a Marxist.. I believe it because I was a waitress.
AOC: Alina Habba said, βWhat intellectual thought.. you were in a bar AOC. Not to have a drink but to serve one.β I donβt care what this woman says about me but I want you to understand that she isnβt just talking about me, sheβs talking about all of us.
Just a reminder that while the Netanyahu government uses the hostages as justification for restarting the war, the former hostages and the families of those still held hostage in Gaza overwhelmingly oppose this course of action.
need you to constantly remind yourself that the average normal person has no idea that any of the stuff we are rightly getting upset about is going on. they dont know. and we need to do everything we individually can to make them know.
Congrats to all the mainstream media folks who bought the Trump spin about not being associated with Project 2025.

The Republicans would like to have some freedom from Trump, but they wonβt until we bring him down in popularity. That happened with Bush in 2005. It happened with Trump in 2017. When it happens, I am hopeful that our Republican colleagues will resume working with us. And I talk to them. One of the places is in the gym. When youβre on that bike in your shorts, panting away next to a Republican, a lot of the inhibitions come off.
A lot of delusion happening in that Schumer NYT interview, but this gets to the heart of it: he believes his Republican colleagues will come around and everything will be ok. Absolutely delusional.

It's a bad sign that I, a US professor with two kids who will be applying to college in the next few years, am exploring the process of them applying to universities outside of America. The Trump administration is on the verge of destroying US higher education, where we have long been a world leader
