Making it clear to kids that being queer is an option, and holding that door open for them, doesn’t make them queer. But it does ensure that queer kids will know your love is not conditioned on their ability to perform cis heterosexuality.

The number of “liberal” parents who have never talked to their kids about how they feel about gender or the sorts of people they’re interested in is astounding. It’s so easy to do in an age appropriate manner with zero pressure or judgement.
Hey, parents—if you’re ostensibly supportive of queer folks but only ever talk about queer folks as an “other,” you’re implying to your kids that being straight/cis is normal/preferred. There are lots of ways to exist in the world. Maybe affirm that, and ask your kids how *they* feel about things.

Eh, I kind of think CEO stagnation is a contributing factor to why tech CEOs are “like that.” Kind of like that old Douglas Adams quote, “anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”
Anyone want to buy an XL The North Face Parka that I bought on final sale and just discovered is too big for me? I paid $250 for it, but I would eat a good portion of that to know it went to someone cool. www.facebook.com/share/183C3a...
Tech companies, across the board, exist to make money. There's no getting around that. So, for me, the question is more about who they pick to run the show, how they treat employees and users, and what values drive them. What I've seen from Toni is that he's "one of the good ones." So, 🤞.
I don't make a habit of lauding people who are accurately labeled "venture capitalists," but I've worked under Toni's leadership, and my impression is that he is a true believer in the open web, and one of the best folks a tech company could ask for as an interim CEO. So, I'm optimistic about this.

For Members Only (Original Version):
I’ll start: Northstar. Early 00s emo that was way better acoustic, and after the band broke up, the primary songwriters went off and released a folk album.
Name a band that released an acoustic EP or album and proved that they should have been doing that from the beginning.
If people are into it, I think sitting on the kitchen counter would make the most sense.
I think lesbians should get to call having their partner load the dishwasher wrong “getting cucked.” It’s homophobic that we don’t get to use that phrase, and loading the dishwasher wrong is such an immense betrayal.
Ooooo, similar angle. Tempting.
“letting a few bean and cheese burritos infuse in vodka.” A+, pretty sure this is a new sentence never before seen on this earth.
Anyone know of a perfume that will make me smell like a bean and cheese burrito from Taco Bell? It’s important for my self-actualization.
This was something eye opening to me especially with big barrel-aged releases. I tried a few for my Stout column that were rated very highly and was just like, “wow, this was expensive *and* undrinkable 😅.”
Ahh, yeah, I’ve noticed this. There’s a point at which I find the entire star rating system to be ridiculous. And, setting aside basic subjectivity for a second, I think most “reviewers” are bad at it and inconsistent even with themselves.
I also have a “If I don’t have anything nice to say” policy of not rating things I dislike.
Curious to hear your thoughts on this. I use Untappd, but mostly as a convenient way to save some basic notes, verify information if it’s unclear from the can etc., and ideally throw some praise to different folks.
DM’d 🙂.
Biggest question for me is what she’s doing regarding food safety with that much seafood in a container at room temp for multiple hours 😅.
Everyone in my house is nonbinary except me. I’m not complaining, but I do think it’s funny that my gay ass is the token “normie” in this family.
Just waiting for one of my kids to sarcastically ask me if the gender is in the room with us right now.
More seriously: There are entry points bats can use to get into parts of our house (largely to do with it being old) that we need to patch up so bats can’t get in anymore.
It’s when you teach bats who are struggling to read good how to read better. Very pricey. Bats are really not good at reading. Poor vision and whatnot.
@eckblad.bsky.social, do tiny little baby boi speakers ala what you’d find in what’s essentially a Nintendo Switch knockoff also fall into your wheelhouse?
A speaker wire in an Odin 2 Portal that appears to have gotten caught on a screw standoff and cut when the device was assembled.
Do I know anyone in the Twin Cities who is capable of soldering/repairing small wires? Or, does anyone know someone who is? I got a fun little Android handheld from China (Odin 2 Portal), their QA left something to be desired, and I haven't heard back from them. Happy to pay!
I do hope that sustained increased engagement will be a lasting silver lining of the federal occupation. So many organizations stepped up and so many connections were made with neighbors. I hope we can leverage them going forward.
