It's the 3rd biggest launch on Switch 2 so far, biggest for a non bundled game.
It's a bigger launch than both DQ Builders, as well as any version of Minecraft and all Animal Crossing games except the 3DS and SWI ones.
Retail launch sales of PokΓ©mon Pokopia are the second biggest for a PokΓ©mon spin off, only below the second Mystery Dungeon title.
It had a 1m launch with digital, which I think it's the biggest launch for a spin off of any kind in Japan.
With all of the good word of mouth behind Pokopia, will be interesting to see how sales of it and Switch 2 do the rest of this month!

I think the rising generation of young republicans is...something even the current republican party is not ready for, as evidenced by these recent clashes on Heritage, Tucker, etc. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/12/o...
Well, all the more reason for me to look forward to your book!
Trump kicked millions off SNAP so families can't eat.
Pete Hegseth spent $6.9 million on lobster tail β a fraction of the $93 billion he burned in a single month.
This is the party of waste, fraud, and abuse.
I described that as the parents training their kids that access to the world is a thing that can be taken away from them if they donβt do what theyβre told, which I see as a gateway drug to child abuse. People On Here did NOT appreciate that. Their prerogative.
Example: a couple of weeks ago I put up a small thread about parents suing Roblox because someone had groomed their kids through Roblox. The news account reported that the parents had previously that day taken away the kidsβ phones because they went to the park without permission.
Pulling this out of its thread because Akiva makes here a very good point thatβs germane for a completely different topic: Internet restrictions and social media bans. Those are targeted toward supporting parents whose parenting style is what I would describe as punitive.
The pain, Mat! The pain! π« In all honesty, I bought a PS5 for Elden Ring. It would require something like that for me to get a PS6 anytime soon.
Just all around great work for Cairn's tech and art team (and the Tech Art Director) - especially considering a wild set of gameplay-imposed constraints.

Anyway, I just hate this kind of thing.
Everyone knows that launch sales are dramatically down for the majority of games, and seeing the company who owns the biggest PC platform be like "everything is actually great!!" and continually refuse to acknowledge the actual truth is just so disconcerting
I try not to do ranty threads anymore, but man, this Valve GDC graph has just rubbed me up unbelievably badly
This was presented as a good thing - "more games are finding success!" -- when actually the data has just been presented in a tricksy way to make it look like everything is fine
Big Tech and Big Media donated some $63 million to a Trump-aligned nonprofit that was set up to help finance Trump's presidential library.
Now the nonprofit has disappeared and with it the money.
Three guesses on where it's gone.

1. What Mike says is 100% correct. This gives no idea of how viable Steam is as a launch platform for games in 2026 - despite remaining the best launch platform available.
2. $100K+ is going to be "success" in very limited contexts - a solo developer, or a small team outside of expensive areas.
Wild to see this in the UK with the Greens - led by a gay Jewish man β accused of being sectarian / fuelling communalism by somehow tricking Muslims who obviously MUST hate gays and Jewish people into voting left? Just bizarre contortions to not understand Muslims as complex humans/political actors
I can guarantee you Muslims are as diverse voting as any other demographic, but in this case the Western European Right wants to exterminate us and the Left wants to only exterminate some of us. I don't really understand how the Racists can be surprised that people vote to not be exterminated.
Alysa Liu on Eileen Gu, via The New York Times "I think people are hypocritical for shaming her for representing China ... Y'all would have told her to go back to China. Now that they're back in China, you're mad."

Absurd heat! Despite our best efforts, the monster heat dome is bound to be "undersold" by the meteorology community. Why? Because intensity like this is almost never seen. This thing has the potential to be Epic for Mid-March, and not in a good way⦠1/
I think the pathing in Pokopia is actually stunningly good but this comic is still extremely funny and relatable
