It's the 3rd biggest launch on Switch 2 so far, biggest for a non bundled game.
It's a bigger launch than both DQ Builders, as well as any version of Minecraft and all Animal Crossing games except the 3DS and SWI ones.
Retail launch sales of Pokémon Pokopia are the second biggest for a Pokémon spin off, only below the second Mystery Dungeon title.
It had a 1m launch with digital, which I think it's the biggest launch for a spin off of any kind in Japan.
With all of the good word of mouth behind Pokopia, will be interesting to see how sales of it and Switch 2 do the rest of this month!

Pulling this out of its thread because Akiva makes here a very good point that’s germane for a completely different topic: Internet restrictions and social media bans. Those are targeted toward supporting parents whose parenting style is what I would describe as punitive.

This was presented as a good thing - "more games are finding success!" -- when actually the data has just been presented in a tricksy way to make it look like everything is fine

1. What Mike says is 100% correct. This gives no idea of how viable Steam is as a launch platform for games in 2026 - despite remaining the best launch platform available.
2. $100K+ is going to be "success" in very limited contexts - a solo developer, or a small team outside of expensive areas.
Wild to see this in the UK with the Greens - led by a gay Jewish man — accused of being sectarian / fuelling communalism by somehow tricking Muslims who obviously MUST hate gays and Jewish people into voting left? Just bizarre contortions to not understand Muslims as complex humans/political actors
