Outside smells like mud and it’s amazing.

I feel like this is one of those odd years where MA and Southern NE gets a mud season.

Makes me want to put on a pair of cargo shorts, and go sit in an Adirondack chair in my backyard with Noah Kahan playing.

Same. I think my brain is reading the extra hour of light as bonus time? But that bonus time is somehow just time in a void. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Daylight savings is the only day where I start to get tired at a reasonable time.

This happened to me back in 2015 and it was so annoying that I wrote an entire Reductress piece on the topic: reductress.com/post/blazers...

Nothing has prepared me more for adult life than the hours I spent playing Paperboy on NES.

I don’t know which medical TV show made me feel older this week - seeing the 15 years pass on Scrubs or having the interns on The Pitt ask “what’s that?” at the sound of a fax machine.

It’s probably because modern life is so exhausting that even trying to make choices that might make your future less exhausting is just too big an ask.

When I was overwhelmed by the move and the new job, instead of researching for 5 months like I would have, I literally bought a Subaru because half the people out here have one and I figured that was good enough for me. It felt really, really weird but it worked out.

That possum must have been up there installing some kind of kind of anti-gravity field.

Spent half of this snow day doing genealogical research with my 8 year old on Italy’s newly released website of government documents. I could go a solid week without looking at a proper name written in 19th century cursive. But, hey, at least my kid can definitely read cursive now.

Everyone in Massachusetts was like “I missed life before 2016” and the weather gods seemed to hear “Oh, you’d like the Winter of 2015 again? Sure, we can make that happen.”

Oh man…I just showed Seth a compilation of Ein videos the other day and so many of their songs, (esp Gotta Knock A Little Harder) have been stuck in my head ever since. I’ve been to Anime Boston before, though, and am not sure I could actually make myself go again at 40.

I think someone screwed up your snow owl delivery.

If you were wondering how scary Gen Alpha is, my 8 year old son had developed a loose baby tooth that was irritating him, so he casually ripped it out of his face and went on with his day as if he had done nothing unusual.

Good idea, but somehow I’m living in a house where for the first time in my life I don’t have mice? It’s amazing but bad for free snow owl food.

I would absolutely love for this owl to land on my roof. Now I need to google what kind of crap I can put up on my roof to attract it.

Stuffing our faces with candy and watching Willy Wonka (the OG) for Valentine’s Day and I’ve realized that everything I’ve ever learned about being Type B came from watching Wilder play Wonka.

It’s like Scrabble - so many people who don’t play assume it’s the person with an English degree who will win, but winning Scrabble has very little to do with having an extensive vocabulary. It’s all about math, strategy and blocking others from plays.

Yesterday around 5 while I was driving home from work, I suddenly thought of Harold and Maude and wondered if Bud Cort was still alive. I forgot to look it up when I got home. Sorry all, this one’s on me.

How else can he make sure everyone understands that he’s been updated once more with the newest and most electable opinions? We must be on Gavin Newsom 4.0 by now.

It’s truly beautiful to have read that that this has been drawn since the 1960s and I love that it means nothing but if anthropologists discovered it in the future, they’d undoubtedly wonder if it was a really a religious symbol of some kind. It’s only a symbol of a passed torch.

Sometimes someone will ask me how I get so many aurora photos and when I get halfway through explaining the app where I monitor solar wind and Bz values, the solar weather Discord group I joined, and the livestream of Mt. Katahdin I subscribe to, I realize I may actually be a huge fucking nerd.

There is a certain S that elementary school students used to draw that is sort of like the Superman logo except that it isn’t.

There’s something deeply comforting about knowing 8 year olds still do this.

I didn’t read all that, but I do think it’s funny that even he didn’t watch whatever half time show Turning Point was able to cobble together.
