I saw 9/11 break a number of older white dudes, including my dad, come to think of it. He was such an inherently kind person — fiscally conservative, but always socially liberal — and the post-9/11 rhetoric seemed to break him severally. He became suspicious, and even mean-spirited sometimes :(

A day later and no major national news org has covered what they're doing in Kansas.

This is the flip side of the hyper focus on trans issues by the right. The national media ignores what's actually being done to trans people.

This erasure is what contributes to the persecution.

If the United States were a legitimate democracy, they could do that without getting black-bagged off to some temporary detention center so fast it would break their neck.

Every president gets ripped for their failed campaign promises, and I think Americans by-and-large do take campaign trail promises with the grain of salt they deserve. After all, we’re _supposed_ to have a whole system of government to decide these things…
