The effects of the ACIP poisoned recommendations may not be seen clearly at scale for years.
But every child that unnecessarily develops HepB-associated chronic liver disease and cancer is the fault of those on that committee, the HHS Secretary, and those that capitulated to put him in power.
This decision goes beyond just Hepatitis B, a completely preventable disease. It will have reverberations across ALL vaccines, scaring the country away from protecting their children and themselves.

Another excellent position at UT Dallas, this time in the Biological Science Dept: jobs.utdallas.edu/postings/30702 Our Neuroscience and Biological Sciences faculty are closely intertwined and collaborative creating a great place to launch your independent lab!
O'DONNELL: What does that mean -- 'send more than the National Guard?'
TRUMP: Well, if you had to send in the Army or the Marines, I'd do that in a heartbeat. We have a thing called the Insurrection Act. I could use that immediately & no judge can even challenge you on that. If I wanted to I could

Welp. Thanks to the Republican gov shutdown I have a bunch of hours back in my week due to a NIH study section not meeting.
These poor applicants. They will be waiting week by week for government to reopen and to find out what will happen to their grant application.
THIS.
I already missed a study section where I review grants two weeks ago due to the shutdown and the study section that was slated to review my grant that will decide if I get to keep my lab open or not ... was supposed to meet this week. Neither is happening and that is destructive to science.
Excited to share the final version of our paper, where we invented a robotic device (ARM) for pain and somatosensory testing in rodents. We are excited to see many groups already getting this device in their labs through our startup company Tactorum Inc.

And then invite every available scientist at #NDiSTEM to come and formally evaluate their work.
We can't let these students & Scientists be on the hook for thousands of dollars. @sacnas.bsky.social
I'm serious about this. If we don't do something, hundreds of students are going to be on the hook for thousands of dollars!!! #SACNAS #NDiSTEM
Send an email to every student/scientist who submitted a rejected abstract & invite them to an hour session in the lobby to discuss their research.
In light of Ohio State banning travel reimbursement to @sacnas.bsky.social unless presenting research, #SACNAS #NDiSTEM should immediately open a simple "chalk talk" event where students are invited to speak about classroom or lab-based research they're doing!

Over the weekend ICE abducted an NIH contractor when he showed up to a courthouse for his green card hearing. He is documented. His wife is a citizen.
He is also member of the skeleton crew of animal care staff that works through a shutdown, to ensure the health and wellbeing of research animals.

At $100,000 per H1B visa, Amazon alone will end up paying $1 Billion. Or, more likely, laying off most of their international staff.

Hmmmm. So, 25% of the US doctors are foreign-trained, and most of them at some point of their career require H1B visa. I don't know how many doctors with active licenses require H1B visa currently, but this is really stupid 👇🏻
RFK Jr: It's gonna be the biggest infusion of federal dollar into rural healthcare in American history
BERNIE SANDERS: Yeah. You know why? Because you're cutting $150b for rural hospitals, you're putting $50b back. That's not an infusion. That's a loss of $100b.
NEW: Don't ask too many questions, but...
NIH may not re-terminate the 900ish grants at issue in the main NIH lawsuits after all.
To the PIs of reinstated grants, SPEND NOW!

Weird things I associated with rich people while growing up poor: water dispensers on a refrigerator.
And now, I'm finally gonna be a rich person.
For anyone as confused as I was about how this bill affects NIH funding, apparently it doesn’t. NIH funding will be determined by the FY2026 appropriations bill that is meant to be passed by Sep 30, 2025. That’s where they’ve requested a 40% reduction for NIH, but nothing has passed on that yet.
