💡Ethanol is better at preserving feces for genotyping microsatellites with Illumina sequencing. However, other considerations such as logistics and safety should be also taken into account, as well as careful sample and locus selection
👩🔬We compared two different liquid preservation methods (NAP buffer and 96% ethanol) for microsatellite genotyping by next generation sequencing of wolf fecal samples
🧪Liquid preservation methods (like NAP buffer and ethanol) have been used during field sampling to maintain DNA quality at room temperature until samples can reach the lab.
