Sarahβs video and this piece really say it how it is. Some of the driving & parking in our area is appalling and has become normalised. Our representatives must take action - children deserve to be protected. #SafeStreetsNow!

106 people will be killed on Birmingham's roads next council term.
Along with 15 organisations, we're calling for Birmingham's future leaders to adopt 10 practical steps to prevent these deaths and many more serious injuries.

Standing for election this May? Here's our guide to getting transport improvements requested and fixing broken stuff. Check out the guide on our website.
A street closed to through-traffic. A bright blue two-way cycle lane runs through it. There is a planting as part of a drainage system. There are cycle racks full of bikes. There is some chalk writing on the pavement from where children have been playing. Two pedestrians walk into the distance away from the camera.
ποΈ πͺ Did you know we have a public meeting called #6to8? It takes place on the first Monday of every month, between 6pm and 8pm at The Warehouse on Allison Street in Digbeth. There's an open agenda. See you there?
Watch π as drivers mount the pavement where a young mother pushes a baby, 20 metres from a primary school. This is normal in Birmingham. Itβs the kind of behaviour which led to plans for an LTN in this area, which have now been abandoned by the Council after 6 years of development.
And with reports of an increase in the percentage of pedestrian deaths, the sooner these street redesigns are achieved, the better.
It is important that we all remember the crux of a low-traffic scheme is to make residential streets safer for everyone by re-routing shortcutting through traffic to main roads designed for it.
We await the publishing of cabinet papers to understand the detail of the changes, noting that there appears to be the intention to progress with a scheme. This is positive news following the cabinet memberβs decision after last yearβs traffic regulation order consultation.
The Kings Heath and Moseley scheme has always been ambitious and we continue to be disappointed that it has taken six years to get to this point.
π§΅
The response must be a safe system approach, not guardrail. We emphasise subsequent lines in the report: "We are also assessing common contributory factors in pedestrian KSls to establish appropriate interventions", "excessive or inappropriate speed remains the most prevalent contributory factor".
This is awful news for anyone not in one of these hideous machines.

Bus lane fines are easy to avoid and are reinvested back into transport. It's currently paying towards recent Iron Lane junction improvements, decluttering of Broad Street, Dudley Road improvements, further bus lane enforcement cameras and the upcoming A38 cycleway extension.
We've published our response to proposals for the Knowledge Quarter. We welcome the intent but cannot support some of the interventions, particularly on Cardigan St. We also want to see it better connect to the wider network. If you agree, please write in to endorse our response by midnight tonight.

www.pushbikes.org.uk/blog/consult... Please look at this consultation response from #PushBikes #Birmingham if you agree and live in the city let Council know by 1st March. Itβs not a bad scheme but parts are dangerous and below LTN1/20 standards. Yes introduced nationally 6 years ago
