Looks like they're usually between five and ten minutes. I saw one other that was fifteen. Pete can really just go

Bummer. There was space along the top walkway for spinners, i was up there for awhile the second set. I get it though. I bailed a year later
in case you've never seen it, this is Roger Ebert on The Mummy
Yes, that one's fantastic with an extended peak - love it. Wonderful shows and tapes

Pete Townsend is unreal in this Colbert segment. Among many highlights is the story of an Owsley-fuelled out of body experience on the plane ride back from Monterey Pop. By a few minutes in, Colbert is beaming and in awe of what's happening on his show

Two verses from the Hua Hu Ching, attributed to Lao Tzu: Five Do you imagine the universe is agitated? Go into the desert at night and took out at the stars. This practice should answer the question. The superior person settles her mind as the universe settles the stars in the sky. By connecting her mind with the subtle origin, she calms it. Once calmed, it naturally expands, and ultimately her mind becomes as vast and immeasurable as the night sky. Six The Tao gives rise to all forms, yet it has no form of its own. If you attempt to fix a picture of it in your mind, you will lose it. This is like pinning a butterfly: the husk is captured, but the flying is lost. Why not be content with simply experiencing it?
That's an extremely beautiful and congruent set of lenses imo. Taoist thought is very dear to me; I think they do the best job of gesturing with words at the things beyond language and conception. Taoist meditation is typically my shortest route out of my own mind and into timelessness
Reincarnation doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes?
I'm just deeply agnostic about reality and love anytime someone has a well developed and lived perspective on esoteric issues. What's rational depends entirely on context anyway
Yeah I was vibing with him like mad thru all that. The fly part was great too.
I just heard Bulgarian bagpipe music for the first time last week. It was pretty sick tbh. Worth considering. Way more shreddy than the Scottish dirges. Just put that in your back pocket in case you need options
You don't have to be any kind of Pete Townsend fan to enjoy this. It's not about that.

Well-off people shoplifting luxuries from a bougie retailer is a karmic black hole I can't engage with at all. I'm all for incentivizing prosocial behavior, but if a "woke" backlash wave does pass through society most of us are going to have agenda items ahead of scolding lightfingered yuppies.
I'm not a Josh fan but I'd rather it be in the hands of a player than an oligarch
Yes. The most dishonorable thing he did in a power mad life. Foolish too.
And he was the moderate! Napoleon betrayed and killed him, and got Dessalines instead. Might be a lesson in there somewhere
Yeah it's pretty successful. As long as a couple of the new characters get audience buy-in i think they're kinda just back
6 months before a US Midterm election πππππ you cant make these things up
Like from the Sublime version? Gives it more of a street feel
Then I'm with you all the way
Was he talking about himself? If so, fine. Very fair. Judging other people for their guitar choices though? What if they just like the way it sounds?
Grrrrr missing album art
It's always something lol
Jack White is both a delightful fellow and a bit of an unhinged loon. I enjoy both aspects without taking him entirely seriously. His support of and affection for my guy Dex Romweber and the Flat Duo Jets bought him a lot of leeway from me - a niche concern, but meaningful
If only he enjoyed playing basketball!
Our very literal and absolute pleasure
None of us was sufficient to do this on our own, and all were necessary. Without your input, edits and discussion i personally would have been much less satisfied with the final quality of the project than I am. Considering the amount of work sunk into it that's a huge deal. I'm very grateful.
The idea that all of this death and destruction is going to apply only to other people in perpetuity, and will never, ever blow back on Americans, is carrying a lot of weight that it can't support forever
we sorted through the utter mess of circulating "blues for allah" tapes, triangulated correct-as-possible dates, re-tracked files with proper titles (including a bunch of songs unique to the sessions & a few unidentified pieces), weeded out many duplicates, & found lots of underloved deliciousness.
and if that sounds like too much, we also made "angels in flame," a condensed/curated edition. bsky.app/profile/brok...
Beyond honored to have played a minor role in this project.
As a lover of BFA whoβs found the session tapes an impenetrable mess, the ability to hear them in sequence, context, and with full session notes as theyβre presented here is a dream.
On par with any $$$ archival box set youβll hear πβ‘οΈ
