โDear Diary,
Super excited to say that Iโll be serving my Clacton constituents today by flying to Mar-a-Lago to meet Donald Trump and to undermine the UK government. God I love being a patriot!โ
Well wellโฆ @reformuk.bsky.social (I know this is a parody account) are so shit that they spelt the Cymraeg (Welsh) wrong on the front of their manifesto ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
These two quit Labour a month ago and Sir Robin Wales hasn't been in office since 2018 (after a 'colourful' career as Mayor) - so calling them Labour 'heavyweight leaders' is a bit of a stretch.
I would love to say that this is Matt reaching acceptance in the stages of grief, but past history suggests that the grift will go on
Hi! Immigration lawyer here! Mahmood's view of the Refugee Convention as providing temporary protection just isnโt correct & AFAIK isnโt one anyone has ever adopted.
On the contrary, the Convention is clearly predicated on a long-term need for protection.

This should be a bigger story.
Following an exchange between the MP and the Reform-run council, Cllr David Wimble, cabinet member for economic development and special projects, posted on X: โWell perhaps we could pull funding for her lovely turner contemporary?... Polly Billington MP] suck it up.โ

Oh god. I came to a cafe for a quiet lunch and some crypto bros are having a business meeting at the table next to me.
At what point should this count as a political donation?

As you know Luke itโs the result of our voting system, people are forced to vote against the party they hate rather than for the party they want to see in power. A fair electoral system would give every party the representation they deserve according to their share of the vote.
The precedent is eerily, chillingly precise. What the current Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is doing to immigrants and refugees today is almost a carbon copy of what Sir William Joynson-Hicks was doing 100 years ago. And that's not a good thing. My column.

By embracing the same narrative, Labour are giving legitimacy to Reformโs plans.
They are both wrong and dangerous.
The local elections are in 2 months and Reform UK are begging people to stand.
Recruitment must be going poorly, theyโve probably realised they donโt have enough former Tories to fill their candidate list.
If these people are found to be working for a foreign power, Keir Starmer will be personally responsible. Whereas when a senior Reform colleague is jailed for ten years for taking bribes from Russia, that is nothing to do with me.
There are no proposed legal changes on burning Qurans or Bibles or the Torah, though we should discourage burning any books. It is a public order offence in some contexts, as harassment of worshippers, and not in itself in other contexts, eg outside an Embassy.

Well said, @mp4stratford.bsky.social ! Thank you for raising in parliament issues affecting overseas voting.

GB News are now bringing Restore Britain on to the channel to tell their own black British presenter, born in Newcastle, she is not British - and it is "ridiculous" to define being British in a way that includes black people.
