I saw! And US distro through Lunar could be great too. Having to the do the month packs from Diamond meant every few months youβd just get shorter a whole months worth of progs.

Bummer to learn thatβs how Fangoria handles it, too. I really wish these magazinee, admittedly niche as they are, would get with the times a bit more. The iPad is 16 years old nowβ¦. Youβd think tablet reading would be more front and center to them.
I agree. While itβs a nice add on, if itβs that clunky itβs useless. 2000AD has always been on such a delay stateside in print that Iβve only ever done the digital. Their app is solid, but being able to back up the files in formats has always been so awesome of them.
Woof. Is it extra on top of the print subscription? Or does it come with? I know if you subscribe to 2000AD digitally, you can read it in app or download in multiple formats DRM free off the site, but thatβs the digital sub.
What format does Heavy Metal offer digital issues in? Or do they not offer them?
Yeah. The super fancy hardcovers and stuff, I get it. But even a normal hardcover or base tier option, it sucks as a retailer to not be able to just order a copy for a customer. Even if itβs after the campaign. At the end of the day itβs not a big deal and gets cool books published. Just annoying.
Yeah. Those prices are silly. My frustration come from the fact that these publishers can see the second hand prices on their out of print stuff, and instead of making it available or putting it back in print, they want the customer to take the risk. And as a retailer we are almost always cut out.
Oh. That is insane. On top of the fact, there is nothing more silly to me than an actual publisher the size of Boom or Dynamite doing kickstarters for these projects. Just publish the damn book. Youβre a publisher. Itβs what you do.
Indeed! And the upcoming slate does seem to have a little for everyone, which is cool. It all comes down to whether they trust creative and can keep the boardroom types out of it. Itβs not just DC we have to worry about taking the wrong lesson from it, though. The industry loves trends.
I agree 1000%. As a long time retailer, I have my doubts that that will be their takeawayβ¦ but I really hope they do use this to be creative and try new bold things β not just all darkness. History makes me a skeptic, though.
You also may have been getting a better than market rate price on it last year, as well. I felt like they crept up a little by then, too, and then had another real big jump.
Yeah. BCW supplies, particularly the plastic ones, have been hit hard by tariffs. They are charging all their accounts a tariff surcharge. Comic retailers are not loving the headache.
Go grab this anthology. You wonβt regret it.
Sorry to hear that, Kevin. Hate when nights go that way. Hope itβs short lived.

Two books, THE BEST OF BRIAN KEENE and FOUR PAST MEAT NIGHT, on top of a blue box with other goodies (bookmark, sticker, bacon, cocktail mix) from said box displayed in front.
Great #bookmail day! Really looking forward to FOUR PAST MEAT NIGHT by @laurelhightower.bsky.social @manylittlewords.bsky.social @rjacksonjoseph.bsky.social & @haileypiperfights.bsky.social, as well as revisiting old friends in THE BEST OF @briankeene.bsky.social. Lovely box of fun from PandiPress.
So true! We brought our lil one back from Arizona with us. And all of our least favorite is cold rain. Snow sucks, but at least hits the fur different. Cold rain is the worst.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
The words "FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE" placed over David Lynch's face (a still from TWIN PEAKS THE RETURN).
I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.
today i learned there are people who put halloween decorations away? they're not just... home decor???

Happy Pub Day to @briankeene.bsky.social, @cgolden.bsky.social, and every author on the TOC for THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT: NEW TALES OF @stephenking.bsky.socialβs THE STAND. So very excited to revisit one of my favorite worlds through the lens of some of my favorite authors! Ellie is too!

Was very thrilled to find a copy of this at one of the local Barnes and Nobles yesterday. Cannot wait to get lost in it!
The signed limited edition of Unholy by J.V. Gachs from Thunderstorm Books
Forgot to post this bit of #bookmail when it came, but I devoured this @thunderstormbooks.bsky.social edition of UNHOLY by @jvgachs.bsky.social in one sitting today. Was a new author to me, and highly recommend this one!
Huge congratulations to my good pal, and Eisner Winner, Clayton Cowles! Well earned and deserved!

A kingdom has lost a king, and the people are mourning.
Metal has lost a legend and a kind soul. Music is a gift from the universe,m that transcends time and space. It is one of the most powerful forces I can think of.
My heart is heavy.
Happiest of birthdays, Kevin! Hope itβs the best one yet!
As someone who has been in comics retail for over two decades, I am not surprised at all, but am still very sorry. Individuals are great, but in general, the fandom is not alright.
Happiest of Birthdays, Aaron. Hope itβs a great one!
Donβt be hard on yourself, Keene. Itβs a shame, but run-on-one-thing followed by do-the-complete-other isnβt new. We felt the same way about Sinemaβs bait and switch when we were in Arizona.
