The South Korean Parliament voted 190-0 to repeal the martial law declaration. Troops have withdrawn from the grounds of the National Assembly building but the commander of the martial law forces says it remains in place until the President rescinds it. But good news. www.bbc.com/news/live/cn...
I came onto Bluesky an hour ago, and the first two things I saw were posts providing useful context for understanding the imposition of martial law in South Korea—the exact kind of thing that Twitter used to be so useful for in a developing crisis.
This is hugely informative and important. I learned a lot and it makes me angry that I had no idea.
I was preparing to pitch an op-ed on the nationwide protests calling for President Yoon's resignation, aiming to provide global context amid the limited international coverage.
