It all makes so much more sense when you replace annoying with inconvenient.
@faoat
Mostly here for TS lurking because it makes me happy how happy she can make people feel This is my album ranking, might be very out of date though, or just my mood today. Showgirl not included for now, due to recency bias 𧑠π€πππ©΅β€οΈπ€π©Άπππ©·π€

Seems to me, the right time for the right take might be before the wrong one gets entrenched. But unfortunately that's also the phase when ignoring the problem looks calm and smart, and drawing attention to it, inconvenient and annoying.
Maybe the most infuriating thing, to me, is their smugness.
I figured the first is about milk and the second, eggs?
Oh I had no idea! Thanks for this

Neon Liberalism #60: Samantha and guest Will Stancil talk the murder of RenΓ©e Good and the Trump administration's larger assault on Minneapolis. Will is working with his neighborhood rapid reaction group in Minneapolis, and he recounts witnessing ICE abductions and confronting ICE agents.
It's trolls vs bullies. Don't feed trolls but always confront bullies.
Oh no, wrong thread!! I'll delete, I know nothing about that situation, thought it was about something else. How very embarrassing, berating you for not checking and then this. Sorry.
Or maybe the person who quote tweeted a random, conversational reply to thousands of followers, without context, reframed in the most damaging way, is the one who wanted a reaction.
Not a guess just a fun thought: I would love it if the title of TS13 involved the word parallax, if the trilogy theory turns out to be right.
Oh I'm glad! It was such excellent timing, I'd just finished watching some of the documentary, and it left me just absurdly, parasocially proud of Taylor, so right then, your kind comment was so nice to see! Hope you find something that appeals to you in there.
And if you'd prefer earlier Taylor since that NYE performance was a while ago, here are some of my favorites:
2011 Speak Now Tour www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ka...
2012 a concert for s/t called VH1 Story Tellers
www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtFS...
2013 Live on the Seine

The 2018 Reputation Tour is great if you want awesome stage production and lots of attitude; not currently streaming anywhere officially but very easy to find.
More lowkey would be Folklore (Long Pond Sessions) which is a live studio version of her 2020 album + explanations, with her two main collaborators, Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff

I'd say maybe just watch the Eras Tour (disney+)! She made two concert movies, one of the last stop of the first leg, the other the very last show of the tour. This lyric video shows some of the first one www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8_w...
What if the Sun is right and Lewis Capaldi is involved and what if it's not "just" a music video but a remix feature??
Imagine saying that to literally any other target of mass harassment.
I don't understand them at all. This gleeful viciousness is very scary to me. Even if I thought it was a response in kind, which this isn't, and if it was the heat of the moment, I'd then be appalled at myself pretty much right away, especially if it happened as part of a swarm. They seem proud!
Every time she releases something, I see fans and "critics" go, "wah wah it's not what I heard her promise I'm so disappointed". Why. I just don't get it. Firstly, I'm pretty sure you weren't actually listening, and b) how is that a bad thing??? That's literally why I'm staying! Wtf.
And Showgirl is about living in a world of performance where nothing is what it seems: the image (of love) is permanent, the object is not; endearments are insults, insults are valentines, mentorship is war, accountability is mobbing, and manufactured does not mean fake.
Imo TTPD is all about the pitfalls of letting your mind and your life be ruled by narrations, internalizing the tropes and story lines you're sold, of trying to write your way out of bad situations towards a happy end, only to realize, chasing your dream you never even made it out of your own head.
If that happened, the discourse around it would probably be even dumber than what is happening right now, but who cares.
Because she'd make a Taylor Swift album, and everybody would be like, oh no 20y in we assumed Taylor Swift wouldn't make a Taylor Swift album and then she did, she tricked us!
Final scene of the Anti-Hero music video, two Taylors on the roof and giant Taylor kneeling beside the house all looking at each other
I'm in no rush to move on and always wrong when trying to predict Taylor but...
To me, these three are writer, performer, celebrity. So wouldn't it be great if she made TS11-13 into a trilogy: The Tortured Poets Department (writer), The Life of a Showgirl (performer) and The xxx (celebrity)?
If your town square, your place of work, was increasingly populated by nazis and bullies, would you say, "Luckily it hasn't changed me, I just learned to keep my eyes down, look away when they spew bigotry, when they torture and denigrate friends and neighbours for fun or because they fought back".
No they're Nazis using stereotypical lefty bios to troll people.
We are clearly way too far apart to productively hash this out. So I'll just say ok and goodbye
My first comment came before his clarification otherwise I would have included that right from the start; doesn't change though that it seems to me he lost a bit of the high ground there, from when he first came charging in guns blazing. So I didn't delete it.
He came in hot, went on at length about how if there's blowback due to bad faith readings of ambiguous posts from potential allies, then that's on you, probably something you engineered to self-victimize, whether you clarify things or not. And the quoted post made it feel a little hypocritical imo.
But for context when asked about it he clarified that he was really just describing what some other people might think, not him though
