So what you're saying is..
Fossils Fuels: Pay a small amount for use incrementally on an 'as need' basis.
or
Renewables: Pay a huge amount for everything upfront (solar panels and batteries) to enjoy 'free energy' if its available at the time you need it.
Then, do it all again in 10-15 years later.
REALITY: let’s make our energy system dependent on the weather!
