If you want to cut metal you'll need a plasma cutter or a waterjet, both of which are a tier above in price. Have you looked to see if there's a local makerspace? You can often rent lasers by the hour or get a monthly membership

That's if you're going with a co2 laser, which require cooling, ventilation, and air assist. Diode lasers are much cheaper but are more for engraving than cutting.

Glowforge is the Cricut of lasers - pricy for what you get but good if you want something that works right out of the box and has a branded material ecosystem.

Your biggest constraint is the wattage (mine is a 40W) and bed size (i have a 12x20).

I love my Full Spectrum Hobby but I was able to get it used for a good price. K40s are good if you're willing to do tinkering to tune it but the best laser is often one someone else is selling cheap.
