The Council agreed today to appoint Andrés Ritter as the new chief prosecutor at the European public prosecutor’s office .
He joined Germany's prosecution service in 1995 and has served as deputy European chief prosecutor since 2020.

Last night, Russia launched another large-scale attack against Ukraine’s energy system and civilian infrastructure.
These systematic and deliberate strikes against civilians are unacceptable. Targeting energy infrastructure is a cynical attempt to terrorise the Ukrainian people.

I conveyed the EU’s unwavering support and solidarity with Cyprus in a call with President Christodoulides the recent attacks by Hezbollah.
I also expressed our appreciation to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the swift military support provided by Greece to Cyprus.
I welcome the announcement made by the Lebanese authorities, banning Hezbollah’s military activities and demanding that those responsible for firing at Israel are brought to justice. It is a game changer.
I spoke to President Aoun on recent developments in Lebanon.
