In the Star Trek Armada game (I know, non-canon), the Borg did assimilated a Dominion cloning station to gain the tech and knowledge to clone Picard/Locutus. A Vorta might have been assimilate.
So there could be tech and knowledge reasons to assimilate them despite biology.
Not technically a mech manga, but there is a mech-less near future school life reimagining of Witch from Mercury.
Civ 6 is pretty fun. I would pay a full game once before deciding if the changes from 5 is worth spending more money on. The DLC are fun, but if you don't like the core game, why put money to it?
