Ultimately, ideally, the game would improve. That's why my doc wraps up w/changes that could endear me to it once again. It's in a really bad spot right now, and I hope it does change for the better and regain more of a playerbase.
im not sure i would call it being a hater. i obviously care a lot about FF and I spent a lot of time in FFXIV and I like game dev. People who are attached to XIV to the point of finding critique upsetting may want to dismiss me as a hater, but truly I think it's very sad that FF has become this.

one of the meanest tricks FFXIV has pulled is convincing its playerbase that being able to level every class on 1 character is a GOOD thing, and not in fact an excuse for them to make leveling alts into a soul sucking trial that either costs you hundreds of hours or $50 + the current expac playtime

I'll be honest, with FFXIV Mobile existing, I would not be shocked to see FFXIV pivot to F2P entirely if sub numbers continue to dwindle.

It makes me very sad to see people still absolutely going to bat for FFXIV (and SQEX in general) when they have so clearly proven that they value money over EVERYTHING. Plus Yoshi-P is so creatively bankrupt that he's floating adding auto-travel to FFXIV. A freemium MMO/gacha staple in a paid MMO.

It is, frankly, hard to be happy about the well paid devs being giddy about collabing with a celebrity musician when their responses to the (graphical and otherwise) issues people are dealing with have been so lackluster.
Yes, it does come off a bit as "leave the corporation alone" since I was more expressing irritation that FFXIV continues to be "Yoshi-P and his buddies do whatever strikes their fancy" even as it bleeds subs and those that ARE still subbed plead for indications that the devs hear them.
I... did not say anything about no one being excited now that it has been announced, nor did I say anything about this particular incident taking away from the visual updates. I said no one WANTED this, e.g. there were no posts from people asking for this collab, lmao. Unless there were! Maybe?!
TBH it still doesn't change this vibe of a boy's club that indulges in stuff like this while barely acknowledging the things that the community have been vocal about. It's a bit tone deaf, like... no one except the devs wanted this. It's cool! But also, lmao.

btw in the FFXIV forums of every language there is at least 1 multiple hundreds of pages thread of people upset bc the graphical "update" fundamentally changed how their characters look and they no longer enjoy their own character's appearance

Never said it couldn't! I'm speaking solely of the fact that games writing often gets called "good" even by those who are supposed to critique it when it would barely pass a beginner creative writing class.
Like just to be pedantically specific, I've seen a galling number of critics (CRITICS!) call SHf's writing "good" and praise its story, despite the fact that it breaks Writing 101's "Show, Don't Tell" rule, where every character just outright states their feelings and motivations, lol.
