QUESTION - What is this phenomena? And does it occur in other arts spaces?
I’m interested in the organisations that have suddenly jumped on the bandwagon and started to promote the event now that it’s being championed by actual orgs instead of individuals …
Tassie is a VERY small place and the Small Press Zine Fair that I run is super large and popular despite no one helping to promote it … usually it’s the Zinesters themselves that bring the audience in … in many ways they ARE the audience … but
But why did these orgs only start promoting this type of ground-up event when it was picked up by an actual arts org, or library? I appreciate the visibility might be larger but …
agree to their space being put to use for such an event. She was successful and they have taken it on. And now the Tas Writers Centre, the ABC, various community arts orgs and EVERYONE is promoting the zine fair. It’s quite exciting. Not to put a rain on their parade at all …

It began, as all writers festivals do, with zero comics authors being programmed … and it ended, as with lots of writers festivals these days, with comics authors being annoyed they cant join the walkout.
