Ahhh, I missed the Lorwyn story this go around, makes sense! The husband/surname idea was more from them avoiding his first name — did the alt character in the Lorwyn text have the same first name/did they say it? They call out Ajani here, just curious why they wouldn’t say Ral if it’s him.

They never say his first name in the story, so I believe this is supposed to be an older Tomik — “every inch the law mage” is one of the descriptors, and they’re married so he has likely taken Ral’s surname. Still, the art looks way more like Ral than Tomik.

Gankutsuou is a weird little adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo with an interesting approach to aesthetic and color (a lot of static textures under animated lines) with a sci-fi twist!

I’ve always thought Esix has an elephant-esque vibe, too, so a great fit visually :)

This sounds like a job for Esix, particularly combo’s well with Scute Swarm! Esix doesn’t say “creature tokens”, so anything that makes Food, Treasures, Clues, etc. can work! Other than that, I’d pack the deck with enter-as-a-copy creatures and artifacts like Mirror Box and Helm of the Hosts 🐗

Can confirm, amazing to work with and tons of games and fantasy art experience! Great sense of unique style but also adapting other folks, recommend!

Good morning to the D&D players who pick out their character’s class after everyone else has chosen so they can fill whatever role the party needs, and to them only.

yawgatog.com/resources/ma... for more! But it looks like an instance of a card referring to itself by name still works even when the ability swaps and the name is incorrect, since the intention is that the card is referring to itself.

I believe this works: 201.5b Ex. Quicksilver Elemental says "{U}: This creature gains all activated abilities of target creature until end of turn." If it gains an ability that says "{BB}: Regenerate Skithiryx," activating that will regenerate QE, not the Skithiryx it gained the ability from.
