Screencapture images of CBC and NYT using a file photo of a body of water that vaguely resembles the left-to-right shape of the Strait of Hormuz, but which is visibly not nearly to scale. This is clearly a river or estuary system (complete with visible floodplains) and not the Strait. It is missing several cities that would be clearly visible at this scale. The photo was also taken from high altitude but clearly not from outer space, making the angle of capture impossible to fit Hormuz into the same frame.
So, I've seen this image come up twice now in news coverage of the Strait of Hormuz.
First it was The New York Times' "The Daily" podcast.
Next, CBC News' generally excellent "About That" webseries.

Interesting how all the right-wing and pro-Israel accounts here remain obsessed about Mamdani and his wife but barely a peep about the Manhattan Institute poll that revealed a majority of young Republicans are Holocaust deniers and love Nick Fuentes, who praises Hitler and is an open anti-semite.
The GOP is aggressively becoming more Nazi every day, literally sharing talking points, conspiracy theories, and supporting people who love Hitler, but we keep treating them like a normal party, and you have some Democrats who still preach civility and bipartisanship.
