Grote Bonte Specht - Dendrocopos major - mannetje hangt aan een nestkastje waarvan de invliegopening is beschermd met een metalen plaatje zodat het gat niet groter kan worden gemaakt. De specht heeft echter onder het metaal een nieuw gat gehakt waar hij wel doorheen kan. Ook boven het metalen plaatje is in de nestkast gehakt. De specht heeft een zwart-wit verenkleed met rode onderstaartdekveren en een rode vlek op het achterhoofd.
