OK so my suggestion is that instead of putting the oil price up, which everyone agrees is very alarming, you just make the barrels smaller but charge the same, and that won't cause nearly as much uproar. It's a clever little trick that I like to call "reduceflation"

My favorite version is the scene from L.A. Story, where bog-standard 2020s coffee orders are an absurdist joke. www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-Cr...
From the @nytimes.com this morning. Is there a word missing? Some weird meaning of "low-cost" that could put just 1% could below the median?

I think this year we will see moltbots or other AI agents:
- break out of centralized containment and coordinate outside of preset channels
- start inflicting serious real world damage, starting with meme coins
- be (partially) shut down by a coordinated and creative human effort.
Training an AI to act like the good Terminator from T2 and having it identify with the bot from T1 would be a funny way for this all to end...
Ah....stuff that's baked in from calendar 2025. Got it.

Like...you created a budget that requires these rates. If you don't think they're good for the city's economic prospects, adjust the budget!
Is there a "Bob Ross stole his shtick from Bill Alexander" truther group I can join?
AI is the most important new issue on the agenda and it’s not great that the leading approaches are:
1. Do whatever big tech wants
2. Make stuff up about water use
I think we can do better!
Um...didn't it also make possible all the anti-construction stuff they've done since 1940?
I find if you ask them to do stuff--and hold them accountable for not doing stuff--then they still do stuff

I ask again...what is the point of having a rainy day fund if you can't use it during a rainstorm?
oh mighty ratings agencies, am I allowed to help poor people?
sometime it's hard to put down an article; other times the author makes it easy
F&*k'n journalism. Just saw that Jon Keller was let go from WBZ. One of the few people seriously and skeptically covering policy issues in the #mapoli.
This is what a federal judge just said to the Trump administration.
Seems to apply pretty well to #mapoli too, though. We have money in reserve. A (maybe *the*) core safety net program is at risk. Use the money!
Someday I will understand what the #mapoli rainy day fund is for.
