A happy memory of my brother: my first Thanksgiving with Butterbean. Here she is meeting him and his two boys, my nephews, at my parents' house. (That's me on the right in both pictures, when I wore my hair longer.)

Without reading the article, my best guess is that by "malign homeownership," they mean:
1) support property taxes, and/or
2) support construction/changes in neighborhoods that might lower property values
