Waiiit, are you telling me they never intended to even build the monorail?
1. Are you currently using an AI tool for work-related tasks or projects? * Yes * No, but I would like to (PLEASE SKIP TO QUESTION 7)
My employer asks me to complete a survey on AI usage for which this is the first question (required):
I use Joplin which I like a great deal as a straight replacement for Evernote but I do host it on my own server which is a barrier. I've tried Obsidian but it's got too many features that don't serve my relatively simple needs. I've also used Zettlr which is good for writing.

βPiracy is the most effective form of artistic distribution these days. So be it.β

I kept waking up and thinking I should check my phone to see if Central is gone.
On Friday, I bought The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett for a pound from the Shelter on Union Street in Glasgow. That Shelter shop is now gone and if I hadn't bought it, that book would be ashes.
Completely irresponsible to use a genAI image for this story. Especially one that shows the wrong corner of Union Street.
Why are there SO many fires destroying historical buildings in Glasgow? Tonightβs tragedy is just the latest.
@glasgowbell.bsky.social mapped them. βWith every conflagration there are whispers that thereβs slightly more to things than meets the eyeβ.

Quite an image on the BBC live page (www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cd...; no photographer credited).
Sounds as if they've saved the station and the hotel, and more importantly, without loss of life.

A bendy banana thanks to the bravery of the Conservative & Unionist Party.
It's simple really, it's because he faced no real accountability for his actions.
For @takeonecinema.net, I reviewed EVERYBODY TO KENMURE STREET, the opening film of this year's Glasgow Film Festival. It's a stirring documentary focused on the individuals who chose to defend their neighbours that day and the Scottish context of the protest. People Make Glasgow. #GFF26
Last day of the festival today. Another festival gone by. They're busily preparing outside the GFT for the premiere of James McAvoy's Glasgow-filmed CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN' tonight.
this is obviously inexcusable, but itβs happening in part cos glasgow city council has been hit with an enormous bill for historical underpayment of women workers by decades of labour councils β so to see the slimy opportunist paul sweeney rubbing his hands here does not sit well

You do sometimes really get it driven home that American Christianity was founded by the protestants so weird Britain had no choice but to persecute them.
Reddit post from u/JovanYT_: "Thank you for always being there for me, even in the darkest of times :)" I texted my best friend. "You're very welcome, and honestly, I'm really glad you feel supported, you opening up to me is not a sign of weakness β it's a big step in the right direction."
absolutely killer Two-Sentence Horror on reddit today
Surprisingly I haven't seen Cinderella III.
A new franchise for the podcast.
I give up, Claude is conscious. Ergo AI developers must face imprisonment or execution for performing medical experiments on their living slave.
we can explain how an LLM works because we can alter it trivially. we can build it from scratch. you cannot build a human mind.
Challenge for those who claim the stripper is only hanging out with me for the money: Explain how friendship works.
The argument that LLMs and humans have the same level of consciousness--which I have seen in the wild--is the extreme logical end of logocentrism, which humanities disciplines abandoned half a century ago.
But apparently techbros did not get the message.
LLMs produce text from statistically likely arrangements of words. Call me conceited but I like to think my consciousness does more than that.
βshift the terrain [...] from a defensive position β reacting to elite policies and practices or merely offering dissent β to an offensive one β contesting ruling structures and offering workable alternatives. Movements need to shift from a position of resistance to one of active transformation.β (p.25)
In the paper I co-delivered this week, I quoted Shantz (2018) at two points:
βThere is a pressing need to take decision-making out of government bureaucracies, parliament, and corporate suites and boardrooms, and relocate it in autonomous assembliesβ p.25)
