The irony is sharp: Unions asking union employers to embody trade union principles. 🥀

But solidarity isn't about protecting "the brand"—it's about protecting the worker. We cannot turn a blind eye because it's "politically difficult."

Union members don’t vote for action over 5 consecutive ballots as they have at @uniteucu.bsky.social unless something is seriously wrong.

This isn't a snap decision. It’s been an 18 month struggle against what Unite UCU describe as "union busting" and "unlawful treatment" from within the movement.

This week, staff at @uniteucu.bsky.social and @uniteitf.bsky.social have announced results of industrial action ballots.

Why? Because their employers—who are trade unions themselves—are accused of targeting reps for doing their jobs: raising H&S concerns and protecting colleagues.

🚩 Over half faced bullying
🚩 2/3 say internal standards aren't met

Unite employs 'union-busting tactics' and suspends staff about to strike GMB Union members working in Unite’s National Bargaining and Disputes Support Unit (BDSU) are due to strike next week over 'bullying and victimisation' and have now been suspended from work.
