Edmundston mayor calls for action after 2nd day of power outages | CBC News
Thousands of N.B. Power customers in the Edmundston area lost electricity Wednesday morning for the second day in a row, while extremely cold temperatures continued in the region.
"We want, once and for all, to receive guarantees that the needed investments will be made in the very near future to avoid this type of situation. Our residents have been suffering for too many years because of the inaction of N.B. Power in our area."

NB Power will be mandated to buy power from SMRs, even if not the lowest-cost option - New Brunswick...
The utility is required to purchase power at the lowest cost, but a new bill would force NB Power to buy at least some power from SMRs.
โNB Power has to buy generation at the least-cost option. We know that the first of a kind when it comes to the development of an SMR would fall outside of the auspices of that legislation and therefore the utility would be precluded from buying it.โ
