I'm not holding my breath but since they paired them in particular I half wonder if they're setting up the past versions showing up together later.
Watched the SMG trailer. Appreciate semi deep cuts & glad the bros are together, but man the screenplay looks garbage even with low expectations from the first one. You can't just throw everything in a blender. But what I dislike most is cliche movie quips w/o irony, its so out of tone & character.
Pixel art of various animal themed robot bosses. The tag at the top says MegaGear X
People keep saying the codenames in Metal Gear Solid sound like Megaman X bosses, so I decided to give them actual designs. Matches the scale of my other X mockups.
Something I've been sitting on for several years that I finally decided to wrap up tonight.

I have a nasty habit of getting roped into going outside in the mud somewhere when I'm wearing good shoes, or getting sprung on with work that'll ruin my non work clothes and incidentally be an all day or ongoing weeks long commitment.
Dog thinks "trick or treat" means "dog treat" and wants to watch people eat chocolate so long story short she took advantage and got spoiled with dog treats tonight.
90% certain the only reason zero/02 hasn't been in games and is made of abstract geometry in air riders is because the ESRB or nintendo can't handle cartoon blood being in a cute game.
Air riders is basically everything I wanted plus completely unnecessary stuff like gummies which seem to do nothing?
Only minor nitpicks are that I was hoping a new legendary machine and the original city trial map would be added (especially now since the old tracks are returning). Still amazing.
Showing people videos never goes well does it
Feel like I never get a chance to say the things I need to
I need to go back to thinking of an hour or a year as a long time again. I guess going out and experiencing things instead of sitting at the computer helps the most, new people and environments.
That Pac-man world 2 remake looks garbage visually imo, like they took the exact wrong lessons from the first remake. But I'll count my blessings that they're done with the ghostly adventures look.
Kudos to everything else about it, the voice acting and bosses are probably slight improvements.
Bracing myself now for when the new smash rolls around and pauline gets in over dixie kong.
I think its being overhyped and the discourse will flip in the coming years. I'd honestly say its on par with DKCTF in scope and polish if I can compare what can be done in 2D vs 3D. Doesn't come near the SNES games for me but its worthy of the brand which I hold to high standards.
Haven't written out my thoughts on Bananza because a lot of what I care about is spoiler heavy. Itβs a better than average game, does most things really well, while still having some issues both in gameplay and story. I guess that's vaguer than necessary but there's too much to address in one post.
Of course Rare suffers another buyout level catastrophe the same month a new DK finally comes out.
It'll be a huge missed opportunity if there isnt a donkey transformation in Bananza
So now I'm thinking Void Co's whole deal is timeline tampering while also possibly trying to resurrect the kremlings. It'd be cool imo if the kremling core gets equated with the earth's core, having croc as a level/world theme. DK/Pauline's transformations could also reflect on K Rool's alter egos.
Correction: Rambi is ridable at least in a racing minigame, I just missed it. Still stand by my general point but I'm glad they make use of him in some way since he's built for a game like this.
Miscellaneous thoughts: I do like the new Void Co kongs despite everything though I think other bosses look straight out of splatoon. The mario artist polygon studio esque mode is a strange inclusion but I'm not complaining about it.
Was mainly hoping to see more returning kongs & hints at K rool but that was probably everyone in the trailer. Pretty bummed we're likely getting less returning characters than even retro's games, like most people I was hoping for a return to form. Happy to see Diddy & Dixie at least even as NPCs.
Pauline is very cute even if her moveset is kinda dumb. Her story seems tonally different from any DK before whether country or arcade, but there's nothing wrong with it even if it could turn out not my cup of tea. Intrigued though & of course wonder if this is a prequel.
If I was confident about anything going into the direct it was that rambi was ridable, really would've prefered animal buddies to those powerup transformations (why dangle him in front of us?) Could at least see the ape powerup being a new final smash or something.
Keeping expectations low as far as the DK Bananza direct. It could very well show us nothing new like the Mario Kart one.
Got my dad some fireball whiskey and found out he's never tried it. Seemed to enjoy it though. π
I don't even think most courses look that great but the movement makes up for it. Ska remixes are also way better than 8's single flavor of Jazz.
Freeroaming is something mario kart always lacked despite diddy kong racing & kirby air ride doing similar things. I want to see how air riders compares.
As an outsider looking in because no game is worth $80, mario kart world looks like a step down in a good handful of ways from 8DX but the positives tip the scale enough to say its probably the best in the series regardless. Certainly will be at the end of its life assuming it gets updates.
To get on summer games fest you have to be an indistinguishable souls game or at least remind geoff of cuphead.
