The big publishers have always copied each other when it comes to covers, but the last couple of years they’ve been a lot more homogenous—the blobs of colors and all that.

I’ve noticed it’s creeping in more for younger authors, authors of color, and genre fiction—in other words, the writers who have traditionally been less likely to make a fuss against a big publishing house.
Was just looking through March new releases from major publishers and some of these books have very obvious AI graphics on the cover. I wonder how the authors feel about publishers outsourcing cover art to a robot.

The raising the pay is the most interesting part to me. I know we don’t want a city government of gig workers, but I think there’s some interesting stuff you could do to support city workers in rare occasions.
I know. I’m turning 50 this year and I feel lucky that I haven’t had any major injuries or conditions thus far. I know it’s coming for us all.

Yeah, I’d just like to see more reports and papers about the policy itself. He’s a great communicator, but I think there’s something in this civic gig work model that should be explored.
