Even white Dems make this mistake constantly:

When they see 90%+ of Black voters voting for a candidate, they cannot accept that this means that the candidate is an overwhelmingly better choice than the others.

Instead, they believe that "Black people vote for Black people! Racial solidarity!🀑"

I live in the state of California, he's my governor, I voted for him in 2018, and he's the worst piece of trash imaginable.

He hates the trans community, he's criminalized being homeless in a state where hardworking people are one missed paycheck from the street. He had Bannon on his podcast

Yup.

~10 years ago, Black people tried to tell y'all that this was the inevitable outcome of the detailed plan written by literal nazis in the US.

We told white folk exactly how they planned to accomplish this, and why.

And instead of listening to us, people in the US listened to literal nazis?πŸ€¦πŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ

I don't like the framing of skeptic vs enthusiast. More and more people understand that it's capable (the degree to which varies), but the framing diminishes the very real concerns around all the other harmful consequences of the technology.

AI Didn't Break the Senior Engineer Pipeline. It Showed That One Never Existed. Most organizations never had a model for developing engineers. They had an environment that produced growth by accident. AI just made the luck run out.

If coding is your favorite part of software engineering, keep coding. AI doesn't stop you. But if coding was the only part you were good at, that's a different conversation. The job was always bigger than the code. #bransoncognac blog.bryanl.dev/posts/ai-sen...

A newsletter for white folx seeking to learn, heal, and engage toward living beyond the myth of white supremacy.

The newsletter isn't going to tell you you're a good person.

It's not going to give you a completion badge or a safe space to feel better about yourself without doing anything differently.

It's going to show you something true. Ask you to sit with it. Then give you one small thing to try.

When I joined as the head engineer of the Torment Nexus project, it was to work on fascinating technical problems and make the world a better place along the way. I am appalled to discover that the Torment Nexus would be used this way and, now that my options have vested, will be leaving the project

The biggest change in software development is not AI code, but a permission structure for disregarding quality in the pursuit of velocity

Grammarly turned me into an AI editor against my will and I hate it The company tells Platformer it will let experts opt out of the controversial feature β€” but how different is it than what every other AI company is doing?

Wait, what?! Grammarly made an AI persona of me and all these other journalists?!!!!!

Thank you @caseynewton.bsky.social for shaming them into at least offering a paltry optoutβ€” although obviously that is not enough.

Both proposals comment periods are now closed, so now we wait to see what the FCC decides. But, thanks in part to all of you, we hit in the neighborhood of 1500 comments on each proposal, what PCMag called "a staggering amount." From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who commented.

Grammarly declined my request to interview CEO Shishir Mehrotra today. But it told me that in response to criticisms, it will allow experts to opt out of the feature by emailing expertoptout@superhuman.com.

The company gave me this statement over email:

We’ve heard the feedback about this tool and appreciate the engagement from those who have taken the time to raise thoughtful questions about the functionality and the experts surfaced. We agree that the product experience can be improved for both users and experts. The agent was designed to help users discover influential perspectives and scholarship that add value to their work. We want the people behind those perspectives to have greater control over whether their name is used, while providing new ways for influential voices to reach new audiences. Our goal is to improve Expert Review to deliver this outcome.
