"Nothing to gain, nowhere to go."
This is spot on, aside from Alan Watts being quoted for something repeated repeatedly in the koans and The Heart Sutra. 🤣

None of us is separate from the ocean, in the absolute sense. In the relative sense, it's wise to have strong open water swimming skills and a wetsuit rated for the current water temperature before diving in (I love swimming in the ocean). 😁
Of course, this is not how it works. We cannot create separation while trying to dispel the delusion of separation.🤣

Very cool preservation work they are doing!

There are indeed 3 different sects of Buddhism, and within each there are many different schools.
Find the one that allows you to most effectively deepen your practice. 🙏🙏🙏
This is a great article.

Strive to not strive while sitting zazen. 😆🙏
Deal! 🤣
Practicing non-attachment.
Making a "hobby of outrage" instead of actively finding ways to help (not just once, but as often as arises from mindful awareness) falls into what is called "virtue signaling." That type of behavior goes against the 7th Precept. Let's all work together to find ways to take positive action. 🙏🙏🙏
"It’s not enough just to know the definition of bodhisattva and read about them. What’s much more important is to understand the actions of a bodhisattva and then to behave like one yourself; walk the path." -Kosho Uchiyama Roshi, “The Bodhisattva Vow: Eight Views”
“Sit immovably in the place where being superior or inferior to others doesn’t matter.” -Kosho Uchiyama Roshi

The black, yellow, and purple one.
It's a liberating practice to step back for a second and ask ourselves the question "Am I taking myself too seriously lately?" 🤣
We are ALL living Buddhas. It just takes practice to peel away the layers of delusion.
"Renunciation is realizing that our nostalgia for wanting to stay in a protected, limited, petty world is insane. Once you begin to get the feeling of how big the world is and how vast our potential for experiencing life is, then you begin to understand renunciation." - Master Pema Chödrön
"Samsara actually refers to the confused inner world of our emotions, judgments, opinions, expectations, and actions influenced by these confusions. This is why we practice The Way: to see that all of our problems are self-created and thus have the potential to be self-liberated.” -Phakchok Rinpoche
This should be interesting!
