it's been brutal. I had the most seniority of a team of 5. everyone else was laid off, and I'm now the only person trained in the role. the burnout for myself and remaining colleagues will be immense.

somehow this is a pedestrians fault
Now THIS is marketing
I know many people my age still have a lot of nostalgia around Harry Potter and might be tempted to watch the new HBO TV series.
Please, I'm begging you, do not tune in.
J.K. Rowling is singularly motivated. The new Harry Potter series is a cash cow intended to fund anti-trans bigotry.
Good:
* Poilievre isn't Prime Minister.
* Poilevre lost his own seat.
Bad:
* Everything has shifted substantially rightward.
* 40% of popular vote and +20 seats for Cons.
* Basically a two-party parliament of centre right and far right.
* Left leaning parties wiped out.
Honestly the only thing keeping me optimistic in light of my riding flipping conservative.
Mike was just so connected with our community, he really truly cared about his constituents. Ugh
Nationally, we've had the better outcome. I hope the NDP takes serious stock of where they're at and where they're going. I'm sad for them, but I hope this is a wake-up call to their party.
I'm so sad to see that Mike Morrice lost his seat in Kitchener center to a conservative candidate.... Such a huge loss for our community.
This is wild considering I don't think the conservative candidate actually did any campaigning
At this point this is the only riding I care about before I go to bed tonight.
Incredible, in 4th place even, yikes
Interesting, this has obviously been in the works for a while. The architecture was pretty dated and harsh... It'll likely fit in a lot better with surrounding buildings now.
I was wondering what was happening to that building! Glad to hear the space will be used for housing.
That CBC radio voice reciting "half an hour later in Newfoundland" is deeply imprinted in my brain
The inset of the couple happily sharing a bowl of cereal unlocked some childhood memory. Feels like THE generic white couple of the 90s.
Should make it so any time they attack an institution that stands up for its values against the fascist regime, that institution gets far _more_ support than it had before
Wikipedia is probably one of the last places online that Trump and his ilk can't control the narrative. It's unsurprising but devastating. Consider supporting Wikimedia foundation if you can.
Every April, we celebrate Independent Bookstore Day to remind us how vital indie bookstores are to our communities and society. Itβs a day of joy and solidarity, and significant financial impact for these bookstores. This year, Amazon is undercutting that with a βBook Saleβ on the same dayβa calculated move by a company that has already put half the bookstores in the country out of business, controls over 60% of the market and sells far more books than all indie bookstores combined. The people at Amazon responsible for the timing of their "Book Sale" should be ashamed, but they are shameless.
Man, this is a pretty fucking gross move from Amazon, huh? Good on @bookshop.org for not mincing words, though:
Carleton riding has the opportunity to do something hilarious next week.
Twitter post/pohoto from JK Rowling who sits on what looks like yacht, taking a puff of what looks like a cigar. She holds a cocktail close to her face and looks smug as fuck. Text on tweet: I love it when a plan comes together. #SupremeCourt #WomensRights.
Text on screen: our.moral.imperative British billionaire JK Rowling has posted several gloating tweets today after the UK Supreme Court ruled that only 'biological women' legally count as women, excluding trans women from legal protections and safeguards. Rowling's vicious smear campaign against trans people in Britain has been going on for several years now and has played a major role in cultivating the extremely hostile and toxic environment that exists in the country towards trans people, particularly in the name of liberal 'feminism'. @fight_for_a_future @rowllingofficial
You all need to treat Harry Potter IP like weβre treating the Tesla brand.
What's this? A glimmer of good news?
A strawberry!
It's such a bummer that our local arts and culture venues are just hanging on by a thread
I was too sleepy to wake up for the eclipse last night, so instead I dreamt that I woke up for the eclipse but was unable to see it due to my neighbours giant patio umbrella (this neighbour doesn't actually exist)
Do we think that Breast O' Chicken was the precursor to Chicken of the Sea?
These are probably some of the last people I'd trust to assess what "good" creative writing looks like.
