I’ve been racking my brains over a 2022 fic I read ages ago, one where Ed’s a rockstar with a beautiful grand piano. It’s angsty, hurt/comfort Gentlebeard but has a very happy ending. I found it at long last and loved it all over again

The idea that Stede even had other friends had barely occurred to Ed, now that he thought about it— besides Mary, of course— but he was fascinated by the idea of them. "Hustle contests?" he asked with a laugh, noticing that yeah, actually, he could hear the disco pumping from inside, now that he was paying attention enough to separate it from all the other city sounds. He nodded his thanks as Stede offered him a light, gentleman that he was. "You ever partake?" "Once," Stede admitted, looking a little bashful. "I was quite drunk, so I don't think I did half as well as I thought I was doing. Mary wouldn't let me live it down for weeks." "I'd love to see a repeat tonight," Ed said, only half-joking. "You like to dance, then?" Stede shrugged as he exhaled a plume of smoke towards the streetlight above them, shuffling forward with the line. "Once in a while," he replied. "I can't say I'm especially good at it, but if I'm in good company, it's nice to let loose. You'll dance with me tonight, I hope?" He'd been thinking about it for fucking hours already, but Stede didn't necessarily need to know that. "Sure, man, yeah, if you want," he responded, smooth as silk (or maybe asphalt).

Felix was Ed's first crush, way back when he first came to sea and joined up with Hornigold. After his death, Ed was determined to avoid catching feelings for anyone else (he failed spectacularly at this multiple times, but he tried)
