A lot of the local options around where I lived in Atlanta gave discounts to folks using ebt. That doesn’t help those in the middle - to broke to pay full price, not eligible for aid - but it doesn’t hurt to ask about options

If you need ideas for where to shop instead of Target, I have an open offer to help anyone who asks. Ask in the replies and I’ll give you my best suggestions!

Here are a few of my best recs, with an emphasis on how you can get curbside or delivery, if that’s part of the appeal of Target for you.

Almost half the shows are copaganda FYI. Tracker technically isn't, "he's a lone wolf survivalist" but it's adjacent IMHO. If you remove the news shows it's fully half.

Hiiiii, feel free to keep deaf people out of this! So sick of the condescension disguised as faux concern about how disabled people "need" AI. We don't. Autocaptions are almost always very bad, and then people like you use their existence to justify taking away actual accommodations that work.

How much of this is copaganda?

I know NCIS is, and I’m guessing the sheriff one and FBI also are.

What about marshals and tracker?

That stuff will rot your brain in so many ways.

That’s one of the major differences I noticed when I moved to Portugal a couple of years ago.

Every once in a while I’ll see an American sized car and just wonder wtf is wrong with that person. So needlessly, clownish oversized, especially for these streets!

I really hope the Grammerly reaction makes people think twice about “genie out of the bottle” AI-as-inevitable framings. We don’t actually have to just accept worse or unethical products and pretend that makes us fans of Progress!

Folks, the use of AI to write reviews is a clear violation of peer review ethics + it endangers the authors' intellectual property rights. Don't do it.

After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative.

The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools

I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.

This is learned today:

Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%.

All the people who voted for and supported this:

May their wells run dry
May their children and grandchildren reject them
May their crops dry in the fields
May their vehicles rust
May they become impotent and barren
May the fleas from a thousand camels infest their groins
May they never know peace

Into the garbage bin they go, right next to Target.

We don’t need your shitty brands! You’re expendable but trans people are not.

Reposting this again for those in later time zones.

Also, academic friends, this feels like an excellent time to push your administrators to drop their contracts with Grammarly.

Working toward constructive conflict resolutions – Lead With Curiosity

This week on the Coaching Librarian newsletter, I wrote about dealing with conflict in your library.

It's kind of a stereotype that librarians treat conflict as a bad word and try to avoid it, but what if you could turn it into something constructive?

Strongly encourage all academics, novelists, reporters, bloggers, whatever to just email this account and state that you want to opt out of this idiocy.

Overload them with emails and make them regret they ever tried this shit.
