This was an early title idea I had for my poem on interbeing. I was afraid that the word "are" wouldn't read as that word given there is an "I" and "R" on each side of it.
I posted this on my account where I do most of my poetry but I just realized that it would make just as much sense here! Given that The Present Can Be 20/20 focuses more on Buddhism maybe I should use this account for writing Haiku that could eventually go on the site?

I want to write a haiku I'm happy with someday. It is such a challenge to communicate a full idea with such tight restrictions. My poems are starting to get short enough that it makes me think this will happen soon enough. I keep trying new ways to structure poems to keep things fresh.
A very rough first draft which has horrible letter spacing. I knew I had to through something together very quickly so I could get the site online as soon as possible.
The second draft which became much more interesting. The drip of the "g" is now matched by the "L" pooling together. Looks like I didn't quite plan the spacing for the of letters on "again" too well at the point where the pool of ink was getting narrower. The decender of the "g" made into the pool is so large that it almost doesn't read as a "g" at all. I kept it like that for over a year and a half. The basic idea of what I was going after was put in place though.
This hand pencil drawing got the letter spacing pretty good.
This was likely one of the first computer renderings where I was trying to imitate the look of black ink which was later extensively used in the first section of the site; the first five pages or so that have a gold look to them.
I've been working on heading graphics for my introduction blurb page for over a year. I didn't expect it to take so long but for some reason the graphic with positive type on the top, negative see through type on bottom messed with my mind a little bit!

One of my favorite parts of this project was when I started writing poems on the many students I grew up. By thinking back on them again it got me to look into what they are doing now. I found someone from my sixth grade homeroom and I enjoyed reading his blog posts yesterday.
Today is the 80th anniversary of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. It’s a great day for contemplation and to remember, in the words of the venerable Thich Nhat Hanh, that “there is no way to peace, peace is the way.”

I've been working on a very different project where I talk about things like getting gum removed from my hair back when I was in middle school. I enjoy this project because it lets me tie in also more serious subject matter like the importance of finding #UnsungHeroes in your community.
I found this video thought provoking. This YouTuber isn't a Trump supporter but he still considers the importance of the attack despite it not being his preferred leader. He sounds like he fought in the middle east so comes at it from that angle.

I go to the field on weekends to shoot hoops. This week there were some nice cloud formations off in the background. I didn't really notice them until reviewing the video. Sometimes soccer balls fly off on to my court. Other days soccer players will play basketball with me. #EcksteinMiddleSchool 🦅
I started using DuckDuckGO this year. It seems to do a pretty good job at search results.
The tool even has a few features I enjoy over what Google provides. Occasionally I go back to Google for a particular feature but it doesn't seem that far off from being a replacement at least for my needs.
There have been several videos based on this basic theme. I like this one which I return to regularly. The speaker does a great job even though he seems to have basically stopped posting videos.

Some thoughts on the term #pro-life and why I don't think the way we use it here in America is justified.
I got thinking about this after @davidvenegas.bsky.social made a social prompt asking "what is the second most likely #TrueReligion?" My explanation hinged on what we call "pro-life."
This is an interview I did recently that I found to be very helpful in my own life. I was traveling with my interview partner Nick when we met Kris just as the three of us were about to board the ferry. Kris expressed that he had trouble telling who had his best interest in mind. #StreetEpistemology
More thoughts written about #loss during the pandemic. It also talks about the experience of someone from my youth group who passed away young. I hated how that was handled. My family was in a major close call car accident one year after I wrote this article so these thoughts came in use.
