Avoid other oils that will go rancid (ie olive oil).

2nd all the folks saying food grade mineral oil plus beeswax. I'm a woodworker and I do the above. Just know that this requires re-adding the mix frequently (every 1-3 months depending on usage?)

You could swap the flour altogether for a combo of raw oats and protein powder. I've seen other recipes do that, though I don't think it's an exact science to figure out the ratios to replace.

Healthy? It still has 10g of sugar (mostly from the maple syrup). It would be more healthy if it could be higher protein and lower sugar....hard to do with most sweets though.
