Sidewalks can be most important infra in cities. It's where people meet boy/girl friends, neighbors, sellers of coffee, fruits... Sense belonging!
Having worked in over 350 cities I find that quality of sidewalks are correlated with level of civility.
Make WALKING SAFE & joyful.

Data on the religious composition on 13 European countries collated by @ryanburge shows how very secular big parts of Europe have become. Catholic strongholds appear to holdout somewhat better.
This map feels like a metaphor for how we live our lives. We carefully step around conflicts (that are in no way inevitable in the first place) and carry on with our banalities. Iβm not saying we shouldnβt but it does feel representative of our condition.
With Russian, Ukrainian, and Iranian airspace closed, there's just a tiny needle eye left for international flights from Europe to Asia. Some airlines are profiting from the current situation more than others. Source: buff.ly/iZ9AfdE

How to read this chart: the typical Belgian earns as much as the typical Californian but works about 24% less. Pretty smart move to calculate such data for the βbottom 95%β only. Worth exploring further.

a map of a fairly empty strait of hormuz
AIS tracks still show a spooky Strait of Hormuz with nearly zero traffic (except for a few Iranian ships.
That's a lot of ships waiting outside the Strait at either end. www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/...
