According to Nathan Cavanaugh of DOGE, the purpose of terminating 100M in NEH humanities grants was to reduce the deficit. In 2024, NEH counted for 0.003% of the federal budget. Does terminating DEI related grants effectively reduce the deficit? No.

Finally got to see in person some "Eye Idols" from Tell Brak, Syria, c. 3200 BCE - they're smaller than I thought. To me they look less like eyes and more like stylised breasts on top of bodies...
