hallo from Concord Academy...
And I'm disgusted with the NH delegation...
For real. And Raskin's my rep, so I also have that going for me.
Ditto Maryland.
UGH.
I know it's only March, but I believe that "sloppelganger" is 2026 Word of the Year
Maybe?

He's just one of those people I looked at from the beginning and went, "I just don't get it."
Face of a thumb, no soul.
What's additionally funny is when Tosh was still alive, Mr. B had the evening and I had the morning and if we ran into someone who was off-schedule, they'd say, "Is that MacIntosh?" because they weren't 100% sure without the correct human, but still didn't know names.
Running alongside this is Living in a Neighborhood with Dogs. You meet tons of people and their dogs on your normal walks.
The caveat is people aren't named by their surface traits, they're "Monty's Dad" or "Piper's Mom." Human names forever a mystery.
One of my favorites (though for Hepburn-Tracy screwball comedies, I do prefer Holiday).
Solidarity against AI theft means everyone. You can't campaign for 'don't use the word plagiariser' while using the image plagiariser. @societyofauthors.bsky.social
Young authors writing older characters: 70 is not that old. Pls drop the nostalgia for Elvis & fear of smart phones. A 70-yo just left her corporate job a year ago & has been on the internet longer than you have. She isnβt afraid to drive on the freeway, sheβs commuted for decades. π
βNot I, faith! No, if I read any, it shall be Mrs. Radcliffeβs; her novels are amusing enough; they are worth reading; some fun and nature in them.β
βUdolpho was written by Mrs. Radcliffe,β said Catherine, with some hesitation, from the fear of mortifying him.
except The Monk; I read that tβother day; but as for all the others, they are the stupidest things in creation.β
βI think you must like Udolpho, if you were to read it; it is so very interesting.β
Catherine, humbled and ashamed, was going to apologize for her question, but he prevented her by saying, βNovels are all so full of nonsense and stuff; there has not been a tolerably decent one come out since Tom Jones,
βHave you ever read Udolpho, Mr. Thorpe?β
βUdolpho! Oh, Lord! Not I; I never read novels; I have something else to do.β
Oh, do romance readers read too much? Of the wrong kind of books, you say? In the wrong kind of language, you say? Are they too easy, too sexy, too fun, too silly? And weβre pretending this is not The argument that people have made against romance since (checks library) 1785?
Oh, I think a ZoomGroom won't work at all on a long-haired cat. Too weak. You're probably going to need a slicker brush or the like.
Telling people that they "have to learn how to use it" or will be considered unskilled, also please consider: 1. that the tech itself de-skills people who rely on it, and 2. anecdote aside, studies so far generally show it takes MORE time to do tasks with it than without it.
That's what I thought. And they both needed to work!
exactly - I think another reason why AI enthusiasts piss a lot of people off is because they often excitedly speak about these technologies as if they exist in a context-free vacuum,
while for non-enthusiasts, the often-terrifying *context* in which AI exists is of way more importance and interest.
(And she and Meathead may still have been living with Edith and Archie to save money, I can't 100% recall...)
And there was a whole plotline around Gloria getting fired from her job because she got pregnant.
That's not equality?
Fuck this guy. I'm not expecting a perfect candidate, but Newsom's not even in the realm of "good."
I was looking at his page in general and wanted to swat him like a bug.
Ye GODS what an insufferable bag o' assorted dicks and red flags...
