Commemorate the arrival of Colorpeek V2 with the mid-century modern cartoon birds that adorn its home page.
Colorpeek shirts ship free now through the weekend if you use the code FREESHIPPINGFRIDAY
(I know it’s dorky to wear my own design, but I do anyway because I’m happy with how it came out)

This is a neat visual effect.
If you use it to replace a legend / fieldset (such as in a form) for even more novel styles, then make sure you give the wrapper an `aria-labelledby` pointing at the heading and a `role="group"`.

Faking a Fieldset-Legend
Using CSS to make a heading overlay and clip the border of its own container.
I helped my pal @chriskirknielsen.com fake a fieldset-legend layout (where the “legend” overlays and clips a containing border).

I’m in the home stretch of a nav redesign for a web app w/ 60+ unique features
The stakeholder just told me they are “very happy” with the outcomes, this was “money well spent” 🎉
If you could use that sort of #WebDesign #WebDev win, I’m always looking for my next project: tyler@cloudfour.com

Them’s the Breaks - HTMHell
A collection of bad practices in HTML, copied from real websites.
Thanks, Matthias!
Hyphenation does present some readability challenges, but I’m happy for options when it comes to more artistic/expressive experiences.

Justified Text: Better Than Expected?
Do new CSS properties make justified text with automatic hyphenation more viable?
Having read cloudfour.com/thinks/justi... by @tylersticka.com et al., I learned about `hyphenate-limit-chars`, and in a nanosecond it jumped to the top of my list of #CSS properties that I’d like to see full support across browsers.
(Sure, it can be progressively enhanced, but still.)

On day 15 of this year’s #HTMHellAdventCalendar, I “break” down (pun intended) an aspect of #HTML we often take for granted: Line breaks!

Simple One-Time Passcode Inputs
Fully functional OTP entry may be easier than you think.
A common strategy for one-time-password fields is to use six separate inputs. This makes for a subpar user experience. Read this article by @tylersticka.com for a simpler approach, complete with working code examples.
