And yet I still feel like they ought to be Friends with Benefits. "Intimate friends."

This is definitely her going, "oh, you know what I just realized? Now that Mike and Liz are out of jobs, maybe they'll consider moving in with me and Dexter. Yes of course they will."
@CNN Pizza shop workers took down an armed robber -- but when police took off his mask, they discovered he was their old boss.
and he would have got away with it too if it wasn't for those meddling kids
this is endless discourse...so I will just reiterate that *Newsom is not ahead in polls* and talking about him as if he's already the nominee helps him. don't do that. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/we-can-bea...
Also, many, many museums and research libraries have digitized historic collections and have free images available for download for many (even all) purposes.
Don't wreck the planet and participate in training surveillance capitalism systems. There's no excuse.
the great folk singer/songwriter Fred Small became a Unitarian minister later in life, and he was in a seminary class for career changers
the class began with the instructor solemnly warning the students that becoming a minister could mean an annual salary of $30,000 😱
Fred said, “$30,000? 🥳🥳🥳”

Gotta love that our tabloid writer just wants to write literary fiction but one can’t make a living at that 😅

It’s not lost on me that Tracy’s swim outfit drapes her like a Greek goddess statue 😎
#romcomweek
I really wonder about that hat!
And that’s not even counting the unspoken messages and the visual language of this film !
#romcomweek
Every piece of dialogue is doing multiple jobs in this film, not just double entendres but triple meanings sometimes 😅

Dinah is a wonderful chaos goblin, isn’t she?
#romcomweek
Oooh and the next most interesting character is the female photographer! Liz is also established right off the bat as something outstanding 🔥🔥🔥

They do speak very fast and the puns and barbs go by quickly, in the droll style of the time.
Right away the most interesting character in The Philadelphia Story is the little sister. She’s part Greek chorus, part comic relief. She’s literally the voice of the audience, speaking in vernacular American slang and saying what we’re thinking. #romcomweek
Oh! I’m still off by an hour even after trying to account for the time change 😅
Tuning in to #romcomweek and The Philadelphia Story from 1940. Katherine Hepburn in all her glory, James Cagney, and Cary Grant. And oh my god the totally affected “mid-Atlantic” accent. So bizarre to hear Americans speaking “halfway” British.
Oh I need to find where to watch it in the next 10 minutes 😅
Omg that movie was so fun. The two of them were so funny and I laughed at the most unexpected things 😂
Safe travels!
The book I always think of in third person present was a cyberpunk bestseller from the 90s called Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson. What was wild about that book ended up not being the verb tense but how the expository lumps were the most fun writing. (Character development, not so much.)
And the lesbian time travel romance I have coming from Neon Hemlock in April has sections in present tense, with flashbacks in past tense. Which means when she travels to the past, it's in present tense, but when she *narrates* about her *own* past, it's in past tense. It works, I swear. :-)
I wrote a romance in first person bc the MC is a former Navy SEAL with PTSD, so he is in denial about a lot, and actively blocking out thoughts about the past. It worked well. (He eventually confronts his demons, in the final section of the book.) But usually it wouldn't be my first choice.
Listen, @lataco.bsky.social set the stage for how to report on ICE. They deserve the backup!

NEW “We’re celebrating a tradition that is at its core about resisting occupation and maintaining community in the face of horrors. You can’t keep politics out of Irish music. No one should try, for two reasons. First, it’s ahistorical. Second, Minnesotans are ready for a big anti-fascist party.”
Nobody has ever been so lyrically yet thoroughly excoriated as in this piece. And yet, few people have ever deserved such a complete dismantling as the Prince formerly known as Andrew

This is 100% the meet cute to a gay awakening romance novel.

Last year many people grumbled that the Hugo Finalists for Best Poem "weren't fun" and "didn't rhyme."
So if you need something that IS fun and DOES rhyme, well:
