Ron Cobb, near-forgotten genius political cartoonist.
He also did visual design of technology for the first Alien film and countless other scifi movies in the 70s/80s. Including the Weyland-Yutani Semiotic Standard - a visual language used for Nostromo signage.

Working on this book has completely eaten my brain. It is an application continually running in the background. I wish I could say this kind of obsession led to generational works of literature! Mostly it's just me writing & rewriting the first chapter like a punishment from myth

societies typically talk about human cognition as working similarly to whatever is seen as the latest and greatest technology. that’s why we currently describe the brain as a roguelike deckbuilding game about characters making their way up a spire

I've got about 6 novels, finished, 'in the drawer' that I wrote in my 20s/30s - none of which were quite enough for publication (though I did nearly get an agent with one). But I think if I went at it now, I'd be able to produce something that could secure a little slice of a bookshelf somewhere.

But I also reflect on the games I've made and will release over the next year and think it's been really helpful to be in a world of just making stuff for a while.

btw guys this thing has reminded me that I do really need to write a novel that can be published sooner rather than later.

Coin used as Leeds bus fare was 2,000‑year‑old currency
The coin was handed down to Peter Edwards from his grandfather in the 1950s.
This is the sort of thing a cashless society robs us of, the opportunity to try to get away with paying the bus fare in Carthaginian currency www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

A copy of wyrd science with a pair of googly eyes and a big mouth stick on it
Oh no, top cognitive and brain science researchers at Wyrd Science Inc. believe that Wyrd Science, the best tabletop game magazine in the world, may have developed consciousness & all this ‘print is dead’ talk is making it anxious
Maybe you should buy a copy so this little chap doesn’t feel so sad

We’ve turned the office into an art room (mainly for the kids), and this looks like a winner for drying stuff.

Such a silly question, but do you just drill holes in the pegs then thread the line through for the drying rack? Or are these special pegs?!

Lucy is moving 3X her weight.
Moving 180 lbs in deadlift has her competitive with intermediate-to-advanced *teenagers*
On a good day I can pull 1.65X my BW off the ground, which makes me Advanced.
The qualification for Elite ADULTS is 2.5X BW.

Went to the museum today to see this much-hyped exhibit: a fragment of a mountaineering hatchet made out of fossilised insects. Honestly, it was a bit of an anty climb-axe.

Coming soon: The Girl With The Most Delicious Heart a Solo Journaling RPG
A solo journaling roleplaying game. Each year a monster calls, intending to eat your heart. An A6 zine designed to be taken on the run.
I'm working on this next: www.kickstarter.com/projects/ada... it's a solo journaling game about being hunted for the rest of your life because your heart is literally so delicious to monsters that they can seek you out. It's an attempt to do a game in prose that blends setting with procedures.

I used to play the constructed mode, but there was no way I was mentally capable of it at 4am. But buying and selling little guys to combo a number up, yes please.
I do think babies are specifically designed to try and make you sleep as well, on top of all of it. It's a real battle!
